So despite the awkward (comedy) surname that brought so many of you to tears of laughter, we think we've got our boys name down to 2 options. So, what do you think?

Marcus Aldcock

or

Joseph Aldcock

Potential issues with either and/or dare I ask for more suggestions???!!

Also, any ideas for middle names welcome.

Thank you!

I think Joseph Aldcock sounds lovely.

comedaygoday · 06/02/2014 15:25

Joseph

Innogen · 06/02/2014 15:27

I prefer Marcus to Joseph, because I'd rather my son be called Mark than Joe.

The two nicknames are very likely, so which nickname do you prefer?

Beanymonster · 06/02/2014 15:27

Joseph

HyvaPaiva · 06/02/2014 15:28

Joseph

MyNameIsKenAdams · 06/02/2014 15:28

Marcus for me. Really not a fan of Joseph. Think its because I hate it when people pronounce it Jo-Ziff instead of Jo-Seff.

Bowlersarm · 06/02/2014 15:29

Joseph

Elderberri · 06/02/2014 15:30

I like both names, but I choose Joseph.

You have a hard sounding surname, Joseph softens that.

To many hard c's in the Marcus aldcock.

Giraffeseyelashes · 06/02/2014 15:32

Marcus!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 06/02/2014 15:39

I like them both, but prefer Joseph Smile

BartBaby · 06/02/2014 17:05

Joseph Smile

Pinkbell123 · 06/02/2014 17:11

I really wouldn't go for Marcus. Only because M Aldcock could be turned into mould-cock. Mouldy cock etc etc

And I love Joe. Fab name

Pinkbell123 · 06/02/2014 17:12

I'm assuming your surname is pronounced oldcock though

Id go for Joseph, because, depending on the way Marcus is pronounced you've got both arse and cock in your name, kind of. Sorry!

I might be biased but I knew a Marcus and we did call him Mark-arse.

ToffeeJungle · 07/02/2014 09:46

The Al should be pronounced the same as in certain other surnames such as Aldridge or Allsop or as in Alton.
People often get it wrong though!

On my previous thread someone said M Aldcock could be mauled cock?? And now mould cock... Hmm.. Maybe Marcus isn't so good after all!!

Joseph sounds better with surname .... Nice Smile

HeadFullofSteam · 07/02/2014 09:49

Our DS1 is Joseph. We live in Scotland and it is not that common here. I absolutely adore it. He gets called his full name and Joe which I also love. Go for it!

noodlebum · 07/02/2014 11:21

Joseph!

PastaandCheese · 07/02/2014 11:30

They are both lovely but I prefer Marcus.

BlueStarsAtNight · 07/02/2014 11:39

I prefer Joseph.

Unfortunately I also thought of Mauled cock and mould cock!

pixiestix · 07/02/2014 14:53

Joseph

KLou1105 · 07/02/2014 15:25

Joseph gets my vote too x

ohhifruit · 07/02/2014 15:34

Joseph is lovely, really lovely - I may be biased as it's the name of our DS.

Allalonenow · 07/02/2014 15:43

Joseph Aldcock

I actually like Marcus better, but don't think it goes very well with your surname, the US-ALD sound is just too harsh.
