Names never mentioned on Mumsnet

This is kind of along the lines of the unusual names thread, so sorry if it's too similar, but I was surprised to search for a name on mumsnet and found it had not been mentioned on any Baby Names thread. I thought most probably had at least once! So, I am going to correct this now - the name is Hyla (boy). Anyone else have one?

Have never come across that name before. Where's it from?

Hill-a or High-la?

I love Bruno, no one ever mentions Bruno.

Mrswellyboot · 04/02/2014 17:53

Luke is great I think. Haven't seen it mentioned.

I also love Nicole

meditrina · 04/02/2014 17:59

Luke is mentioned quite a lot on threads by Star Wars fans or those who decide to breed from them. On the grounds that it's the acceptable alternative to what the fan is coming up with.

I've never heard of the name Hyla and don't really take to it (sorry).

ToffeeJungle · 04/02/2014 18:15

Never heard of Hyla either.

I know a baby Dennis but I don't think the name has been mentioned recently on here (positively or negatively).

Lynette is another that springs to mind.

Oh and I love Luke and Nicole!

Sammie101 · 04/02/2014 18:18

I never see Samantha suggested but I don't think many young children nowadays have that name. Probably because people will insist on shortening it to Sam, which is a BOYS name Confused

SS3J · 04/02/2014 18:43

It's ok, you don't have to like Hyla! It is pronounced High-la and I think is Scottish, but not sure. I have only come across it once, but I thought it would have had a mention on here before!

Elaine. Pretty name, never mentioned.

Rhubarbgarden · 04/02/2014 20:07

I know a Hyla in his seventies.

GoofyIsACow · 04/02/2014 20:10

Mitmoo
Gina Ford

dannydyerismydad · 04/02/2014 20:11

Daphne. You never hear that name. It's pretty, and it's strange it hasn't made a come back with all the Graces, Elsies and flower names.

Rhubarbgarden · 04/02/2014 20:18

Grin at Goofy!

HoneyandRum · 05/02/2014 08:00

saintmerryweather · 05/02/2014 08:03

ToffeeJungle · 05/02/2014 13:05

Justice

ToffeeJungle · 05/02/2014 13:06

Stupid phone, that's

ToffeeJungle · 05/02/2014 13:06

Stupid phone, that was meant to be pronounced

ToffeeJungle · 05/02/2014 13:08

Argh! I was trying to say Justine - not seen it on baby name threads despite MN co-founder being one...

Though I guess you don't often see Justice either?!

ScrambledSmegs · 05/02/2014 13:12

Justice Grin

That reminds me of Eagle vs Shark. "Tell him Justice is coming for him" man other end of phone -"Ok Justin".

YoHoHoandabottleofWine · 05/02/2014 21:13

Matthew. No one ever mentions Matthew.

DaddysBigTummy · 05/02/2014 21:24

One of my DD's is called Nicole, she is 6. The only other one I know is 14. In most recent Mother and Baby magazine one of the baby models is called Butterfly, never heard that one before!

AllDirections · 05/02/2014 21:28

I met a little Justice once

vitaminC · 05/02/2014 21:31

Hedley. It was my great grandad's name and I think it's a great name. I have girls, but no boys, so never got to use it, but I hope somebody does, eventually Grin

AuntieStella · 05/02/2014 21:34

Daphne is Forces slang for useless female upperclass twit (counterpart of Rupert). That'll probably make it unlikely there would be much of a revival.

MauriceMinor · 06/02/2014 02:28

Christine. You never hear Christine anymore.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 06/02/2014 09:01

Kim rarely gets a mention.

Hyla is a new one on me.
