Sibling name for Eloisa!

Hello! I'm new to mumsnet but heard lovely things about how friendly it is!

I have a lovely daughter named Eloisa and I'm looking for a yellow sibling name. I am so stuck - any suggestions would be so welcome if anyone has time to think about this!

If it's a boy I quite like Alexander. If it's a girl my current fave is Emilia but it really doesn't go with Eloisa!

Thanks in advance! Xx

Alexander is an excellent boys name!

For some reason Marianne, with the emphasis on the anne popped into my head.

i think it needs 3 syllables anyway.

So Theodore. Or Mortimer. that style of name.

Thanks Lights please. Unfortunately Some suggestions won't work - Isla and Ava very popular here, Penelope ex-OH's girlf and Annabelle other side's agent in current house move (she was such a nuisance it's put me off!).

Not heard of Mila or Lila before - not sure they 're my normal naming style but I'll give them some thought. Same with Madeleine. Thank you - lots to think about!

Thanks Aberdeen Angusina - I really like it! My only worry is perhaps too popular? As you can probably tell unlike uncommon, yet real, names. This is definitely on my list though!!

Thanks Monkeyandanimal - I agree on longer name as it works better with one syllable surname. Like Theodore, also Monty I like (but v popular now) xx Thank you xx

Thanks Bluechampagne. Love the choices but think softer sounding names might be better with our surname. Not heard of Kerenza before.

Coffeeinbed - thank you! Unfortunately I can't use this name due to family. But thank you.

I'll keep thinking but so far inspiration is failing me ! Thank you for helping xx

Abelard?

AberdeenAngusina · 03/02/2014 20:42

Our Alexander has always been the only one in his class / cub scout group etc, though there's always been another one or two in the school.

My impression is that it's slightly more common as a middle name than a first name.

For a girl, I love the suggestions of Marianne and Abigail. What about Alexandra, or do you want "keep" Alexander for DC3 if this one is a girl?

Tilly2014 · 03/02/2014 20:56

Sundae delight - I LOVE Agatha ( I'm a HUGE Poirot fan)! Sadly though it really doesn't flow with our surname and think it needs to be softer name if that makes sense. Not so keen on Henrietta due to slightly negative associations it has for me (isn't it funny how that can put you off a name!). But do love Rosalind - great name and I shall add to the list!

Midfleagedmotheroftwo- thank you! Great name and meaning but bit of a sad story when linked with my daughter's name so not for me.

Aberdeenangusina - thank you - I do love Alexander and I think you 're right. Now I think of it I don't know any Alexander's of first name. I really like it and it 'a great with our surname! For some reason I'm not so keen on Alexandra but couldn't tell you why. Marianne is a very good friend of mine so not sure I can use it although she is Swedish and pronounces it "Myanna" - very pretty though. Abigail is going on the list though.

Thanks so much all and any other suggestions very welcome!! This is so helpful!! X
