But I thought you wanted something modern? Florence, Grace and Rose are all very popular at the moment but definitely not modern, more Victorian really. Did you just change your mind?

Clair76 · 05/02/2014 22:01

You r right they aren't very modern but so far I haven't been taken with any others. Still open to suggestions if anyone has any as we r still not fixed and now with 1 wk to go

If you want an honest opinion (but bearing in mind that names preferences are so subjective!)

Grace and Rose are very overused as middle names. It may not matter one jot to you, but when I hear of a new baby with the middle names Grace, Rose or May, I can't help thinking "Really?! Not another one!"

The two Gs sound a bit harsh to my ear too.

Florence is a lovely name, but I wouldn't use it personally because of the association with the Camerons and therefore the Tories. If that doesn't bother you, then that's the nicest name from those three IMO.

I'll post some new suggestions for you, hold on ...

Lol thanks for the giggle. Can't wait to hear your suggestions

I like Marina it seems to fit well, but you might not like the initials, or the name come to that.

motherofallhangovers · 05/02/2014 23:45

OK, some names. I've gone with birth month as it's all I know about her! I like this game (can you tell?!) If you give me anything more to go on (what music you like / any relatives you might want to honour but not actually keen on their names, etc,) I can come up with more if you like?

Isobal Daisy Guy
Isobel Lily Guy
Isobel Primrose Guy
Isobel Violet Guy
Isobel Viola Guy
Isobel Amy Guy
Isobel Amabel Guy
Isobel Annabella Guy
Isobel Cara Guy
Isobel Kerensa Guy
Isobel Freya Guy
Isobel Carys Guy
Isobel Esme Guy
Isobel Rosamund Guy
Isobel Philippa Guy

Flowers blooming in February: Daisy, Lily, Primrose, Violet.
(Violet is February's birth flower. Reckon it sounds a bit harsh maybe though? Viola could be a softer version)

As February has Valentine's Day in it, how about a name which is associated with "love"? Amy and Carys (and Cerys) mean Beloved. Amabel comes from the Latin amabilis “lovable”, Annabella comes form the same root, Cara- Italian for “beloved”, Kerensa- Cornish, “love”, Freya is a Goddess of Love. Scottish via Old French, meaning “esteemed” or “beloved”

Or, it's the new Chinese new year has started, it's the year of the horse. Rosemund means horse protector, Philippa means friend of horses. You could call her Pip too!).

motherofallhangovers · 05/02/2014 23:46

Opps there's a missing Esme! It should say: "Esme - Scottish via Old French, meaning “esteemed” or “beloved” "

motherofallhangovers · 05/02/2014 23:48

Please feel free to say you hate them! Grin

I think you need a long middle name to balance the short surname.

Isobel Veronica Guy, for example.

I definitely think four syllables.

ninjawomble · 07/02/2014 00:15

My favourite names are Isobel Grace, but don't like Grace with "G" surname. Like Isobel Florence Guy from your list. Suggestions for names that flow with your surname:

Isobel Louisa Guy
Isobel Sophie/Sophia Guy
Isobel Charlotte Guy
Isobel Catherine/Katherine Guy

Theresomethingaboutdairy · 13/02/2014 11:38

I have 3 girls, Emily Grace, Olivia Rose and Isabella Florence. Yes all over used but I do get lots of compliments on their names and nice names are popular because, well, they are nice Smile
