I think this is a great name for ds due at end of Feb. What do you think? Just putting it out there to test the water.

Surname begins with B and is one syllable.

I like both names very much. However Rafael frederick doesn't seem to ease off the tongue so well; the 'L' sound lifts up and then the tongue has to jump down for the 'F'. Swapping the names around and saying them out loud has an smoother feel to it. Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Of course you are unlikely to be using both names for day to day purposes so it wouldn't be an issue.

Both names together and he sounds like one posh tot!

I love Rafael/Raphael though, Raf/Raffy is a great nickname.

Mim78 · 14/01/2014 15:33

Ha! We're not posh they are just two names we like Smile

I really love the nicknames Raf or Raffa, which is part of my reason for the choice.

I like Freddie as shortened first name, but Fred sounds wrong with our surname and obviously people might go for that if we used Frederick as first name.

Plus Rafael is my first choice.

I like very much. The 23 year old Raf I know is very cool.

Your son must play the guitar and to to edgy parties, as to not shatter my illusion.

Mim78 · 14/01/2014 16:13

His uncles will be pleased if he does, Rosencratz!

I really like Rafael, but spelled Raphael, for some reason

sonlypuppyfat · 14/01/2014 19:40

Nice first name, dire last name.

Minty82 · 14/01/2014 20:36

I wouldn't use the two together because there's a novelist called Frederic Raphael. But he's probably not all that well known, I'm just a book nerd.

Mim78 · 15/01/2014 11:28

Is he a good author though Minty? I won't swap the names round in that case!

Yes, certainly not an embarrassing person to almost share a name with! Great name otherwise, go for it!
