What are your opinions on this name? Do you think Annie would work for short?

It would work but more often I've heard Toni used for short.

I think of Antonia Fraser and Antonia Forest, both good associations. Quite posh but not pretentious. Also would work well internationally.

Annie definitely works for short.

How is that pronounced? Antoosha?

xXjunebugXx · 10/01/2014 22:41

It is pronounced an-toe-nee-a.

Ah ok. I know a girl who's name is spelt like that but pronounced Antoosha.

Sorry, scrap that. Just looked more carefully and can now clearly see it says Antonia! Doh.

Antoosha is spelt Antonina!

In that case Annie is a nice shortening I think but not a natural one. Would you call it her as a permanent nickname? I met an Antonia at baby group and thought it was a good name!

sebsmummy1 · 10/01/2014 22:55

I like it!

Lovely name and I think Annie works well as a nn.
