Hoping someone can help. We are due our second baby in the summer and if it is a girl we have kind of committed ourselves to naming her Elizabeth. Long story short it was my husbands grans name and we had agreed on it as our girl name for our DS. After my DS was born my husband told his mum that we had been planning on calling him after her mum if he had been a girl. Trouble is I am kind of going off it :/ Does anyone have any ideas for variants of Elizabeth we could use? Also open to first/middle name combinations as I am struggling for middle names too Smile

If dh just mentioned this to his mum in the passing, then perhaps you could just give dd a totally different name, I mean would his mum mind if dd wasn't called Elizabeth.

Other than that how about Eliza or just Beth, or Lizbeth or Elspeth.

But none of these are quite Elizabeth are they and if it's not Elizabeth why not just pick a name that you do like now.e

HoratiaDrelincourt · 07/01/2014 19:14

Use it as a middle name? My DS1 would have been Catherine Elizabeth.

I agree with pp suggestion of move it to middle name if you can't feel happy with it.
My favourite variants are: Bess, Betsy, Beth and Lisette.

I like Bethan, Lizanne and Lizbeth :) thanks all. I think his mum was really really touched that we were naming the baby Elizabeth :/ and at the time I did like it but unfortunately I have since had a bad experience with an Elizabeth which put me off a bit xx

Nobody's mentioned Lizzie. What's wrong with Lizzie?
