Brother for Robin

DH and I have a very looooong list for DS2 after using the only name we could agree on for DS1 (Robin), but the top five is:

Peter (family name)
Felix
Fox
Caspar
Somerset

I currently like Peter Felix as firstname middlename, quite like Felix but don't love it for a first name, and wish I had the guts for Fox (but wonder if Robin & Fox sounds a bit theme-y?).
DH suggested everything but Peter, and reeeeally isn't keen on most of my other choices seems to have gone to school with a smug/mean Oliver/Rufus/anythingelseIsuggest.

Also, small point... DS1's middle name is Peter, but apparently it isn't too weird to use it for DS2's first name.......right?

Any opinions or suggestions welcomed, please and thank you! Thanks

I would say Felix fits best with Robin.

Not sure on middle name though as none of those names would fit into a middle name for Felix, iyswim.

Perhaps:

Felix James
Felix Andrew
Felix Louis
Felix Robert
Felix Samuel
Felix William

Just a few suggestions. :)

Whatever you pick it has to go with Robin (which is a lovely name). I think Fox would be odd... like you're naming all your children after animals! Felix would work well with Robin (think about calling your children... "Robin & Fox it's tea time" or "Robin & Felix it's tea time". One sounds good, one sounds odd. I think you should cross out Caspar (isn't that a ghost?) and Somerset is a county (though would work OK for a girl).
I don't know any children called Peter... it's a bit like John, Paul etc and not really used any more - perhaps Peter as a middle name like husband?
The names you've crossed out... Oliver, Rufus would work well alongside Robin.
Suggestions: Jasper, Theo, Luke, Lucas, Olivier, Jamie
Probably not very helpful!

Watching with interest! I have a DS Robin and currently ttc!

Hi... LongTailedTit (just noticed your bird sort of name)... I have no idea if you like bird type names...

So found these websites for you... (I'm not trying to be funny - just helpful)...

nameberry.com/list/76/Bird-Baby-Names?all=1

answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101125151755AAvGIdU

Not sure if links work here?

LongTailedTit · 06/01/2014 21:53

Thank you! :)

Yup, if we have Felix as a first name I'm not sure if we'd have a British middle name - he'll have a middle name from FIL's culture anyway.

I'm warming to Felix... Felix XXXX Surname

Or Peter Felix XXXX Surname

Dammit I wish DH liked more of my choices!

What about Cassius?

IHeartKingThistle · 06/01/2014 21:58

Robin and Peter are gorgeous together.

birdofthenorth · 06/01/2014 22:06

Fox is awesome! Somerset is not my cup of tea (maybe because I'm a northerner!!). Felix is great and Peter is just lovely. I think Peter goes best with Robin. Fox is brilliant but with Robin it's a bit too many nature names (I'd expect Bear and Wren to follow- all fab but not together, unless you're opening a wildlife sanctuary!)

LongTailedTit · 06/01/2014 22:08

Grin ChilliQueen There are some nice names there, but I fear another bird name would be more themey than bird & animal! Altho I do know of a Robin Raven, his parents clearly didn't mind the link...

Kato - have you got any names on the drawing board yet?

birdofthenorth yep! I love Fox but it just seems a bit much with Robin. Much the same as Leaf or River etc.
Somerset is DH's suggestion too, I'm def not keen on that one! Mind you, I like Valentine...

Hmm we briefly considered Robin and Peter but realised that Robin Peter (to pay Paul) is not good!

LongTailedTit · 06/01/2014 23:23

Oh dear, we didn't think of that one when naming DS1! Ah well, too late now! Grin

It's quirky ;).

CormoranStrike · 06/01/2014 23:41

Not Peter. I do love it , but instantly thought of Robin Peter to pay Paul.

Felix is my favourite, then Caspar, but can I add Simon, I thi k it is a good fit with Robin.

Weegiemum · 06/01/2014 23:44

I like Peter. One of my best friends has a 6yo Peter, it's a lovely name.

Don't like Fox.

Felix is a cat.

Caspar is a ghost.

Somerset? Just no!!

Atticus (Finch) from To Kill a Mocking Bird. Gregory Peck was just beautiful in that film.

You can kill two birds with one stone on bird themes. Three if you count 'Peck' as well. Grin

Frikadellen · 08/01/2014 18:48

Only Robin I know has a brother called Simon.

I like Peter but if your DH doesn't like it I would pick Casper from your list as All the Caspers I have known (Grew up in Scandinavia where it is more common) have just been adorable.

redrubyindigo · 08/01/2014 18:54

In France the name Felix is seen as, how do I put it................? Like calling your DS Tyler or Wayne.

LongTailedTit · 08/01/2014 21:51

Meh, having no French family I'm not too fussed tbh, over here Felix is on a par with Hugo and Francis. :)
Besides, names trends being as fickle as they are, Wayne will no doubt have it's day...
