Penny! I love Penelope and wanted to call my baby that if he'd been a girl.

picnicbasketcase · 31/12/2013 21:53

bootsycollins · 31/12/2013 22:05

Penny.

Rosencrantz · 31/12/2013 22:47

Clara, unless Penny is short for something more pretty. Don't like Penny at all.

KrabbyPatty · 31/12/2013 22:48

I hate them both. Sorry.

absoluteidiot · 31/12/2013 23:20

One of those actually is my name. I have always liked it. No-one else at school had my name!

GW297 · 31/12/2013 23:24

Not massively keen on either but prefer Clara. Reminds me of sweet girl on Heidi.

buttercrumble · 01/01/2014 01:39

Clara , my dad nearly called me Penny. Thank god he never

yawningbear · 01/01/2014 08:47

Clara by far.

DitsyDonkey · 01/01/2014 08:57

Clara

MadeOfStarDust · 01/01/2014 09:03

I love both...

but Clara would win at a push..

Mrsindecision · 01/01/2014 10:41

I prefer Clara. Not keen on Penny.

Penny is one of the abbreviations for Penelope, so unless you'd be thinking of using an abbreviation as the official name, a better comparison might be 'Clara or Penelope'. I would happily be called either, both are far prettier and less common than my name! Clara makes me think of the nutcracker ballet, and Penelope is lovely

nkf · 01/01/2014 10:50

Clara and Penelope yes. Penny not as a full name. Just my opinion obviously.

SS3J · 01/01/2014 13:38

Clara by a mile. It is lovely, and Penny just makes me think 'spend a penny'.

StuckOnARollercoaster · 01/01/2014 13:44

Both are lovely but very different. Clara - quite distinguished, posh, serious. Penny - very sweet, happy and bubbly. Maybe see which suits your daughter when she's born.
I had a similar dilemma and had Elizabeth (Beth) and Daisy on my list and was favouring Elizabeth but when dd was born she was definitely a Daisy

Lovely names. I think Penny. I'm fussy about 'long versions on birth certificates' for optimum naming/nicknaming options so would use Penelope. I also love it shortened right down to Pen.
