I have a friend whose son spells Louie the say way as the OP. BOTH are correct.

I like Louie. I would pronounce it Lou-ee. How about Max, Tristan or Dylan?

The Louis I know pronounces his name Lou-is, as do the citizens of St Louis in the US.
