Zak

Any opinions on this name? It was on our list for DS1 in 2007 but went with something else. Still like it, this will be DC3 and haven't met a little Zak yet. Don't know if this will be a boy or girl yet but want to get opinions on boys names as I find them harder.

I like it.

I know a couple of boys around the age of 12/13 called Zak, and it is a noticeably cool name, IMO.

I'd spell it Zack. Doesn't look like a full name without the C.

I like Zak. It sounds strong, handsome and cool for sure.

DS (5 next week) name is a (highly unusual) long version of this although we shorten it to z. a. c. (Without the full stops etc, just don't want it googleable!)
But going by the Christmas cards we've received this year some people spell it with a k or a ch.

I have a Zach. Cool name. Cool kid.

I'd go for Zach, for me that's the obvious abbreviation of Zachariah.

Thanks for your thoughts. Should have mentioned that full name will be Zakir, DH is muslim. Definitely top of the list at the moment (although we are far from cool....).

Ah, in that case I'd go for Zak. You never know, once you have a Zak you may become cool.

I've got a Zach. He really suits his name and people comment on it all the time in a pleasant way. He's an absolutely gorgeous little thing. Never complains and isvery thoughtful. Very proud of him. Go for it!. Xx

As a nickname, fine. But as a stand alone name? I have known two dogs called Zak. It suited them.

I'm 19 and had never met a Zak before, I always wanted my baby to be called Zak when I would have one, funnily enough my baby's daddy is called Zak and we're having a girl! But I absolutely love the name, it's probably my favourite boys name, as I don't think it's popular!

My sons name is Zak he is now 17

I prefer the full Zachary and think it's quite unusual for new babies now. All the Zachs (and assorted other spellings) are adults.

Both Max and Zak/Zac/Zack/Zach are quite popular.
