My ds is going to be born by section in 2 wks time. Hubby & I can't agree on names. I like Arthur, harry, Freddie, seb, but he hates them. He likes Aaron but im a Karen and don't like it rhyming with mine. The only name we both like is Isaac but we already have a son.called Zach. Do u think its acceptable having 2 sons with such similar sounding names?
Heeeeelllllllpppppp!!!
Thanks

I think they are too similar, sorry. Will think of some alternatives...

NoAddedSuga · 12/12/2013 23:39

I like both names, but not as siblings...

whereisshe · 12/12/2013 23:41

Both good names but as siblings there is far too much scope for phone/iPhone type jokes, you can't do it to the poor boys!

onedev · 12/12/2013 23:43

I really like both names, but too similar to be brothers IMO. Sorry!

kazza446 · 12/12/2013 23:44

Argh, thanks everyone! I thought not but wasn't sure if I was just being silly. We also already have a Thomas and an Emily. We come from a close knit family with lots of cousins and half cousins so we seem to have very little choice left!!

Seth? Sam?

elvisola · 13/12/2013 06:45

Jacob is a similar name to Isaac but not so close to Zach.

MrsT2007 · 13/12/2013 08:12

Joshua
Reuben

KLou1105 · 13/12/2013 09:16

Hmmmm i agree both lovely names but not for siblings how about:
Oliver
Archie
Oscar
Louis
Noah
Ethan
Max
Henry
Lucas

kazza446 · 13/12/2013 18:14

Archie was our favorite until our neighbour called his new dog it. I also like Reuben but with my surname there are too many r's and b's! I have also suggested Louis but oh refuses to call him after someone from 1d!! We picked Ethan last time around but my father in law hated it & specifically asked we never called him that. He never usually interrupts so he obviously detested it. My bf boy is Lucas so can't have a Lucas! Max could bean option. Quite like Joshua too, although theres a little boy near my mum with that name and he's not a nice boy. I'm do flipping particular. Thanks everyone x

Both a bit out there maybe, but how about Isidor or Isaiah?

OKmum · 13/12/2013 22:09

How about Theo?

grizzabellia · 13/12/2013 22:11

I think they are a bit too similar - I think Zac is sometimes used as a nickname for Isaac.

I would pronounce Aaron Air-on in any case which does not rhyme with Karen (cf Aaron Copland).

What about Adam I think that is similar and goes well with Zach?

adaloveslace · 13/12/2013 22:17

I always think of Oscar and Isaac as similar sounding and in vibe (though I know Oscar is an ancient Irish name and Isaac is biblical.) Would that work?

I had Jude picked out for this bump but I can't use it now as he's going to be a she, so you're welcome to it. Grin

Otherwise, I think Hugh is a great name - Thomas, Emily, Zach and Hugh go together very nicely.

I have a cute-as-a-button nearly 6 year old Louis by the way, and no-one (except him) makes the 1D connection. There are many much cooler and more durable namesakes -- Armstrong, Reed, the sun king, King Louis from
the Jungle Book....

OKmum · 13/12/2013 23:02

Leo?

jellybeans · 13/12/2013 23:07

A bit similar I think

Blake
Flynn
Austin
Hayden
Evan
Jake
Nathan
Sonny

temporarilyjerry · 14/12/2013 08:23

I wouldn't let my name choice be influenced by next door's dog or a boy who lives by my mum.

If you like Archie or Joshua, go for one of them.

Fifibluebell · 14/12/2013 18:20

I know of brothers called Zachary and Isaac and Isaac they are known by Zach and Izzy

ToffeeJungle · 14/12/2013 19:05

Both great names but not for brothers.

They were actually on our shortlist along with:
Nathan
Leon
Joseph
Marcus
Christian
Jared
Anthony
Louis
Dominic
Theo
Drew
Ciaran
Daniel
Simon
Joel

puntasticusername · 14/12/2013 19:37

Zig!

Zig and Zach. Do it. Go on Grin

Sorry, don't actually have any helpful suggestions...

looki · 15/12/2013 02:09

Max is v nice.

I liked Zach (before finding out I was having a girl) but would have named him Isaac with Zach as a nn so there is no way I would use both names on siblings. Other names I liked were Felix (it means happiness), Harry, Reuben (but went off this), Saul, Alexander, Louis and Tom.

TwoMinutesToMidnight · 15/12/2013 05:44

I too think it's far too similiar. How about

Oliver
Darwin
Oscar

kazza446 · 16/12/2013 16:54

Thanks everyone. Still chuckling at the phone / iPhone comparison. It took a while to click ha ha. Think we are down to Archie or Edward now. Edward can be shortened to a few variations. Other children are voting for Archie. Still hoping the husband may got soft while I'm being stitched up in theatre and let me have harry or Freddie!! Zig and Zach is funny. I liked Eric for a while but we have a dog called Ernie so husband said no to Eric n Ernie ha ha!
