Girls name advice...!!

I'm 18w2d and recently found out that we will be having a little girl.

Both my OH and I really like Olivia however, I'm worried about its popularity and would hate for her to be 1 of 4 in her class at school (like I was back in the day - Lauren). We also quite liked Charlotte and we've recently added Georgia to the list.

I would like a name with more than 1 syllable as the surname is going to be 1 syllable and the surname starts with N so don't want a first name that starts or ends in N. I'm being very picky!! Haha

What does everyone think?

Suggestions welcome!

I like your names. I'm not sure of the popularity of them for newborns as mine are all teens. Ds1 now 17 was going to be Olivia.

Anyway, other suggestions:-

Hannah, Sophie, Isabella, Lucy, Imogen, Jemima, Eleanor.

I like Harriet also but its far more popular here than Georgia (midlands)

See, I love Olivia and don't know of anyone with that name, despite its popularity. There isn't one in my entire DCs nursery (0-5yrs)

It all depends on where you live. You can look at the ONS statistics which give breakdowns of the top 10 names by area.

I have a toddler Charlotte and Georgia was second on my list.

We also liked Harriet, Bethany, Claudia and Eleanor.

They're all nice name. All very popular but that doesn't mean there are going to be hundreds. Charlotte is more popular than Olivia at our school at the moment, despite the lists. I would say that a year group of 45 or so children has, on average, 1 Olivia, 2 Charlottes and maybe a Georgia but less likely, especially in younger years.

Similar names that are less popular that you might like:
Bethany, Catherine, Cassandra, Elizabeth, Francesca, Felicity, Florence, Georgina, Gabriella, Henrietta, Hermione, Imogen, Joanna, Juliette, Louisa, Lydia, Miranda, Melissa, Madeleine, Natasha, Natalie, Ophelia, Rebecca, Rhiannon, Samantha, Tabitha, Victoria, Vanessa

RaRa1988 · 11/12/2013 13:07

I love Charlotte and it's firmly on my list Smile. If you're going for names of that 'era', what about:

Sarah
Anna
Rebecca
Eleanor
Louise
Samantha

...They all seemed popular in my school at the same sort of time anyway!

Or, as I say, DP and I really like Charlotte and we also agree on:

Scarlett
Naomi
Zara
Megan
Katy

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Got a lot of names to choose from there.

Love your taste in names - all three are classically beautiful. You might also like Sophia, Isabella, Freya, Eliza, Florence or Alicia.
