It seems to be underused. In 20 years any Pauls from 2013/14 will be surrounded by Noahs and Nathans. I think it would standout then as unusual.

It's old fashioned but not in a good way.

Just like Doreen, it's a name that just doesn't seem to fit anymore.

Names do age though... There were loads of Pauls at my school and now I am married to one (he's 36). Never see any little ones about now, though. Similarly, do you get baby Nicolas, Claires or Joannes? Loads of them back in the 90s, not so much now. My own name marks me out vvv clearly as a late 70s baby too!

There is a lot of Polish kids at my dds school with names like Nicholas, Claire, Joanne, Julia and Paul!

Well Jazz, Saul did become Paul. ( in the bible ).
I like it, it's my little brothers name, he's 42Grin

I love Paul. When I was growing up it was going to be the name of my DS (it isn't!)

I think it will make a comeback, although not yet.

The idea that Paul will stand out among the Noahs etc in his 20s appeals - just like the odd Edward stood out among the Pauls 30 years ago and now you can't move without falling over an Edward at every turn... I like Paul,it's a lovely name..

It's just SO boring! Every other 30 something man I meet is called Paul.

So thirty years from now a 30 year old Paul would be the equivalent of meeting a present day 30 year old called Keith.

It's swimming against the tide, by choosing a name that all mums and dads see as boring almost guarantees it will be underused and therefore hip in 20 years.

It's like our parents generation saying why in earth are you calling your kids Lily, Betty and Slyvie? I know all three under 10.

I like Saul.

Paul sounds so banal. A meek ineffectual character. Not sure if i know any pauls. I cant remember.

Not really as they are more grandparent names than parent names. Parents names are Roger, Roy, Janet and Sandra.

I do know a young Paul and he's the only one in his year. Actually he may be the only one in the school!

I have an uncle Paul, (mid 40s) he kinda looks like a baby - bald & fat cheeks lol. I know a late 20s Paul but knowone younger than it.

Dh is called Paul, he's 30. I like the name. Dh is tall, dark, handsome, smart, stubborn, reasonable, tips even when he gets crap service, witty and beardy.
Probably not down to his name, but I'm in the "vote for Paul" camp! Grin
