I am a leader of armies, ruthlessly impaling my enemies, I am powerful, wise, cunning, tactical, physically strong and intimidating. I inspire loyalty.

What is my name?

Cornelia
Saskia

HoneyandRum · 06/12/2013 16:59

Har har we have a Raphaela but she is an athletic artist - I just don't see the ruthless ambition necessary, she's far too much of a considerate, consensus builder.

I knew of a Boudicca as a child with a brother called Caractacus.

Xenobia certainly sounds like she takes no prisoners. Maybe HILDA? doesn't that mean warrior maiden or something?

Elizabeth

Or aethelflad / Elfleda

HoneyandRum · 06/12/2013 17:10

Ooh Elfleda is good! How is that pronounced exactly?

OP posts:
LineRunner · 06/12/2013 17:12

Cartimandua

marmitecat · 06/12/2013 17:17

Aethelflad was the anglo saxon boudica. She was a famous military tactician and the granddaughter of kingaalfred. It is pronounced ath-el-flad or eye-thel-fl-eye-d. The latinised version is Elfleda pronounced elf-lay-da.

magicstars · 06/12/2013 17:17

How about Iceni? The name of Boudicea's tribe.
Scarlett is a strong sounding name IMO.

ProfondoRosso · 06/12/2013 17:33

JOAN.

rallytog, I know a Zenobia in her 30s. And she's lovely!

Sundaedelight · 06/12/2013 17:35

Aminta - meaning defender/ protector

Alexandra - meaning defender/ protector

JanePurdy · 06/12/2013 17:40

I knew of a Boudicca & Caractatus too OP!

LedaOfSparta · 06/12/2013 17:48

Xanthe (daughter of Titans/member of the Amazon tribe acc google).

It's DDs name chosen because with 2 older brother we thought she'd grow up being able to hold her own.

We also considered Artemis and Claudia

rallytog1 · 06/12/2013 17:53

Joan is a lovely name.

HoneyandRum · 06/12/2013 18:02

JanePurdy did you also know Dimitri and Evangelista?

TheRaniOfYawn · 06/12/2013 18:22

DD's name is a variant of Tomyris, the Queen of the Messagetae who killed Cyrus the Great, had him beheaded and put his head in a wineskin full of blood to quench his thirst for blood.
