Would you avoid giving dc2 a name which was in the same theme as dc1's name I.e. flower/nature names, classical names etc?

I have a dd and am expecting dd2 in January. We have no plans for more dc but not dead set against it. I find myself drawn to names that are along similar lines to dd's name but am concerned that if we did have another dd in the future that I would be compelled to think of another name in the same theme or risk dd3 sounding like the odd one out.

If you called DD1 Willow, DD2 Rose and DD3 Sharon, it would be quite comical. Grin.
I think it depends on the theme, and what the third name is.
Love name threads!
I wouldn't go for a theme myself, but they can work well. Having said that, I suppose I went for a nit of unusual/old fashioned theme, but it back fired because now their names are modern and common popular!

bit not nit!

I think it really depends on the theme, and how strongly linked to that theme the names are. As the other poster said, a string contrast would be odd: eg, Lavender, Primrose & Sarah. However, Lilly, Jasmine & Esme, not so much.

Feel free to share the names if you want opinions! Smile

String?! STRONG contrast. Grin

My gt grandmother has a Lily, Pansy, Primrose and Rose.

I wouldn't have a theme myself but I do think names should work together. I wouldn't have a Persephone and a Madison for example or an Harry and a Wolf.

Dd and ds have biblical names but I don't think if we have a third and didn't have a biblical name it would be weird . I think it depends how obvious your theme is , but probably doesn't matter that much .

I think you just have to go with what you like !

This thread reminds me of when somebody posted about knowing triplets called Faith, Hope and Kevin!

So yes, I think themes are fine as long as you don't differ too wildly from them with one child.

Fine by me. Any of it, really! It's only about 10% of their lives they get defined by birth family, 90% is the rest of their lives to live as individuals.

Slightly cheesy but also fun
