dh and i are trying to decide on a boys name...i've always had one name in mind (Jack) However my 2nd cousin has a little boy with the same name...could i?me and my cousin never see each other, although her parents and mine visit each other frequently...
so,can i have the same name???
or can anyone give me some names that Jack can be a nick-name for...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think it'd be fine. You're not close, it sounds like the children might never meet, and Jack's not an unusual name - it's not like you are both going to have children called Xavier or something, then it might look like you'd copied!

Oh, and Jack was traditionally a nickname for John… Jackson is also quite nice though.

I too had a relative nick the name I wanted to give my baby -- infuriating, isn't it?! However, I would say that a second cousin is distant enough that it's OK to double up, given you don't see her. Go ahead!

Traditionally Jack was a nickname for John, so alternatively you could go with that as a formal name and call him Jack anyway. See www.behindthename.com/name/jack (great website for names info).

I think it's fine, as Jack is such a popular name anyway, she can hardly be surprised to find others! But it could be a nickname for Jacob too. Or, alternatively, do you like Zack?

I was also going to say Jacob can be shortened to Jack as well as Jake and Jay.

Second cousin is pretty distant, your Jack and hers will both come across loads of others.

I have three sets of cousins with the same names. Boring, but rarely confusing.

Jack's a great name.

Could be short for John, Jonathan, Jackson
