My lovely baby boy is 5 days old and he needs a name! He has lots of dark hair-if that helps!

Im also open to middle name suggestions with a similar 'Xander' vibe.

In fact I'm open to first names too....

Heeeelllllppppp!

Congratulations on your baby!

While they are individually lovely names, I don't much like the '-is -san' or '-th -san' sounds linking first and middle names. They sound too 'hissy' if that makes any sense!

I think Seth is the nicest of the two first names. A different middle name would work for balance - Lysander or Alexander instead of Xander would retain the vibe but remove the 'hiss'!

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 02/12/2013 22:27

Alexander as the 1st name

Not that I'm biased Wink

TheDoctrineOfSanta · 02/12/2013 22:27

How about Seth Alexander?

shoobidoo · 03/12/2013 09:53

Otis is a fantastic name - cool, classic and not overused!

Otis Alexander would be lovely or Otis James. Also like suggestions of Otis Lysander.

I don't like the sound of Seth at all, sorry. It also doesn't travel well into other lanuages.

Spaghettinetti · 03/12/2013 10:05

Seth Xander just reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Good names, but I'm really not sure about Xander as a middle name.

FigEater · 03/12/2013 10:15

Seth is hard to say.

AuntieStella · 03/12/2013 10:22

I think Xander is a lovely name - nicer than either Seth or Otis. Any particular reason you haven't put it as the first first name?

Mellowandfruitful · 03/12/2013 10:29

I also really like Alexander and with that as the first name you could call him Xander all the time with the option of Alexander for him if he wants when he's older. Win win!

Lebkuchenlover · 03/12/2013 14:54

I really like Otis.

You rarely use middle names so I'd focus on finding a first name you love! Xander is quite nice or how about Xavier?

squeak2392 · 03/12/2013 15:02

I like Otis.

Bunbaker · 03/12/2013 15:24

Seth Xander initials are SX - Essex anyone? Besides they don't flow properly. I prefer Alexander which can be shortened to Xander anyway.

Chocotrekkie · 03/12/2013 15:28

I immediately thought of buffy with Seth xander as well.

Mellowandfruitful · 03/12/2013 16:14

You will have to enunciate very clearly with either of those first names followed by Xander. It will be SeTH Xander or OtisSS Xander IYSWIM.

Bowlersarm · 03/12/2013 16:15

Alexander Otis nn Xander

Leeds2 · 03/12/2013 16:25

I prefer Xander to either Otis or Seth. Prefer Otis to Seth.

Agree with other posters that Otis Xander and Seth Xander are quite hard to say.

mathanxiety · 03/12/2013 16:47

I also agree the full name Alexander goes much better than the short Xander with both Seth and Otis.

I would prefer Otis if the other choice was Seth (which I think is an ideal name for a snake), but I also agree Alexander is the nicest.

sashh · 03/12/2013 17:08

The initials OX might sway me away from Otis.

LynetteScavo · 03/12/2013 17:13

Otis - way nicer than Seth!

givemeaclue · 03/12/2013 17:14

Xander doesn't go with Otis or Seth though unfortately.

thehogopogo · 03/12/2013 17:38

How 'bout ... Otis Elijah...?

OP posts:
MelanieRavenswood · 03/12/2013 17:46

Otis Elijah is great. Very distinguished sounding!

hatsybatsy · 03/12/2013 18:05

Not overly keen on either name... Bryan Ferry has a son called Otis and the others are called Isaac, Tara and Merlin - would one of those work?

Elijah is great. Asa? Reuben? Torin? Arlo?

pencilsharpener · 03/12/2013 19:47

Otis sounds strong and cool, but not commonly used if that's important to you.

Seth I don't like at all. Always sounds like someone trying to say s e x with a lisp to me...

Xander sounds like a dashingly handsome hero in a novel. Which is great if you are dashingly handsome, but perhaps Alexander (nn Xander) is easier to live with.

Names with a similar vibe which you might like - Saul, Ethan, Jago, Max, Rex, Elijah, Raffety, Blake, Lucas, Rufus,

mathanxiety · 03/12/2013 20:51

I like Otis Elijah very much. I think it has a great ring to it. lots of gravitas and also very cool.

DramaAlpaca · 03/12/2013 20:59

Otis Elijah is very nice. So is Otis Alexander. A bit different without being too out there.

Not keen on Seth at all, too lispy. Xander sounds like it's short for Alexander, not a complete name, but it's nice as a nickname.
