If someone used your child's very unique middle name as a first name for their child who was only a few weeks apart in age?

With lots of friends and family in common.

My dad's forename was made up by his aunt; and he's not the only one now!! Quick shocking to find another several others.

My grandmother has forename that only like 800 girls in the whole of USA in 1925. Yet there exists another lady with [grandma's forename] with her original married name (not a common surname, either). They only differ by middle initial.

The spelling of my forename was made up, I don't think there are any others, but eventually there will be.

DH just mentioned this to me later casually because he couldn't care less and doesn't see my problem.

What is the problem ? No-one owns a name. And to be honest a second name is neither here nor there - very few people will ever use it , and even fewer people know other people's middle name.

Get over it - you chose the name you liked, that is all that matters.

Unless it's something like "Lobsterbreath" or "FGWKXIBE" I doubt it's a unique name, probably something like "Storm" I.e. an unusual name. Did you and husband actually make up the names OP?

Yup would bother me! Which is petty but it still would!

strawberrypenguin · 03/12/2013 07:49

Yes it would annoy me! My SIL used our DS's middle name for her DS and I'm still annoyed. I know no one owns a name etc but its still annoying!

It would probably bother me a little, yes, but not as much if they had used the same FIRST name.
