Elizabeth Rose or Elizabeth Sophia and why?

Elizabeth Rose, just becaue Eliabeth Sophia doesn't roll off the tongue so easily, even though i love the name Sophia and it was my second choice for DD2

BigBoobiedBertha · 28/11/2013 09:25

Elizabeth Rose. It trips off the tongue more easily and sounds better to me for that reason.

Plus Rose is a couple of letters shorter than Sophia. Having a long surname myself and then lumbering DS1 with 2 long first names I wish I had considered name length! His name doesn't fit in boxes sometimes.

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 28/11/2013 09:33

Elizabeth Sophie for me. I think Elizabeth and Rose are both very classic, lovely but safe names. I think Sophia is a bit more interesting.

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 28/11/2013 09:34

*Sophia

Elizabeth Rose.

Elizabeth Sophia is too spthspthsphth

Both are really overdone imo, so I'm going to say neither.

They're fine, but nothing special.

I really like Olive and Opal (ish names) as middle names - something a little bit different?

Mrsindecision · 28/11/2013 17:54

Elizabeth Sophia would be my pick. Fwiw, I don't think either are "overdone" as the pp suggests.

Rosencrantz · 28/11/2013 18:12

I'm another one that thinks Rose and Sophia are very frequently used.

Mrsindecision · 28/11/2013 18:28

I think the term "overdone" is really rather negative and unnecessary. OP has asked which of the two combinations you'd choose, not whether you think they are overused or not. I am sure she is quite aware of the popularity of the names she is considering (particularly if she's posting on this board). If you wouldn't choose either, I would suggest you refrain from commenting.

I prefer Elizabeth Rose ... dd3 is Elizabeth Grace Smile

nooka · 28/11/2013 18:41

I think that Elizabeth Rose runs off the tongue better, but I would suspect that she might well share her name combination with many others and would be inclined to find something a little more unusual as a middle name. To me Sophy works better than Sophia, but of course the surname matters too.

Rosencrantz · 28/11/2013 18:46

That's generally not the way opinion based forums work though is it Mrs? Maybe a polling based forum would have been better... Binary options Wink

Mrsindecision · 28/11/2013 19:39

But she was asking for opinions on which combination people preferred, not whether they are popular or not (or indeed whether people liked them!) Confused. She's obviously happy with both the choices so it seems pointless and a bit unpleasant to say you don't think either are "very special"!
