Love it! :)

LaurieFairyCake · 25/11/2013 15:39

Bob's better Wink

Verily, verily, verily, life is but a dream.

butterfliesinmytummy · 25/11/2013 15:39

I have a 5 year old verity, so I'm biased but we love it. She was born overseas so there was lots of repeating of names for people who hadn't heard of it but it's not a difficult name. We've met 2 other Veritys so far. Her nickname is Vee, middle name Elizabeth.

SS3J · 25/11/2013 16:55

Good name. My cousin is called Verity and I've always been.a bit jealous! It's unusual without being weird. Good choice.

RaxacoricofallapatorianCatpuss · 25/11/2013 17:01

I was just about to post this. Verity is top of my list right now. It just sounds so NICE! No daft twee nicknames, its not overly common at the moment, and it just fits! Top marks from me! Smile

SatinSandals · 25/11/2013 17:04

I like it.

CordeliaRose · 25/11/2013 17:14

Lovely!

EdithWeston · 25/11/2013 17:15

I'm not keen on virtue names generally, and this one strikes me as rather dull. Sorry.

Graceparkhill · 25/11/2013 17:15

Beautiful name. I met a teenage Verity the other day.

LoveandLife · 25/11/2013 17:22

Depends where you live. It sounds awful when their teenage selves friends don't pronounce the T

BunnyLebowski · 25/11/2013 17:24

I don't like it.

It sounds stuffy and staid like most virtue names do.

ems1910 · 25/11/2013 17:25

Love it :)

Spaghettinetti · 26/11/2013 07:54

I know three ladies called Verity; all in their early 30s. I quite like the name.

Bonsoir · 26/11/2013 07:58

I'm also not keen on virtue names. Thrift was my paternal grandmother's middle name and one of my cousins has it too.

HoneyandRum · 26/11/2013 08:56

Verity is beautiful but as others have said it depends where you live and how it is pronounced (or mispronounced). We wanted to use it for our second DD but we were in the US and no one pronounced the 't'. I think "truth" is also a beautiful meaning.

squeak2392 · 26/11/2013 09:15

Absolutely beautiful :)

BoyMeetsWorld · 26/11/2013 09:21

Hmmm I've known a few Verity's - all have been unbearaby prim and proper little madams, the type who insist on taking over as head girl etc. But when I was little I think I
Used to like the name....

Love it - is my dd's middle name.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 26/11/2013 22:17

Lovely.

Mutteroo · 27/11/2013 01:25

Went to school with two Veritys and it has put me off the name as neither were very nice girls.

If I didn't know anyone with the name then I have a feeling I would really like it!

FracturedViewOfLife · 27/11/2013 01:33

I really, really like Verity. It is in my top 10 girls names.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 27/11/2013 01:45

Like.

I had no idea it was so popular though! Tbh that would put me off somewhat.

singaporeswing · 27/11/2013 02:38

Best friend is called Verity, she's 25 and not come across any others. We call her Etty.

Absolutely love it.

FrumiousBandersnatch · 27/11/2013 09:25

Thanks all. It's obviously popular here, but it was only 366th in England and Wales last year so it doesn't seem so popular nationally.

I take the point about virtue names but I think Verity is much less prissy than Prudence, for example. I knew a Verity at middle school but she was a bit of a bitch so perhaps that's offset it in my mind.
