Hi, I really love this name and wondered what other people think? It's popular but that really doesn't bother me. Both our families are English - do you think the name still sounds English/traditional as well as it being a name that travels well internationally? We just tend to like quite classic names.

I like it. Pretty, classic, not too common, easy to spell - ticks all boxes.

I love Sophia.

Be warned of Sophia the first!

We have been living in the US for the past few years and Sophia is VERY popular for newborns. So it travels well - but may be on the way to becoming mor popular.

Lovely name.

I have an 8 year old one, but spelt the other way Smile. It's still one of my favourite names ever.

Sophia is massively popular in every country we have lived in: Uk, USA and Germany, so be warned she will be marked as part of this generation and meet Sophias everywhere (just like Olivia!). Still a very beautiful name though.

Gorgeous name and travels very well. Has a fabulous meaning and has been in regular use in English speaking countries since the early 17th Century. What's not to like? Smile

Thanks for the feedback! Just wasn't sure as a relative made a comment about it sounds like it's from a particular part of the world and was worried the baby would have to keep explaining it was English when people say "so are you originally from xxxx"! (I mean when the baby get older of course! Grin )

We have one, I love it. Hope it doesn't get even more popular!

CogsworthAndJerry · 24/11/2013 16:34

I like it. I like Sophie too, but think I prefer Sophia just a tiny bit more.

justhayley · 25/11/2013 08:00

I love it it's a beautiful name - it's popular for that reason! Think it sounds English and travelled - I can see a French sophia an Italian one a Spanish one, hey maybe even a Chinese one!
Iv heard on here it's crazy popular and there are thousands in every town but I'm yet to actually come across one.
