I've said for years if I ever have a son I'm going to name him Parker and now I am expecting a boy, I would still really like to name him Parker but am very wary of it now Frankie Sandford has named her baby Parker. I like the fact that it's not really a popular name but am worrying now that it may suddenly shoot up in popularity. DH says I'm worrying over nothing and he's still set on the name.

What middle names do you think would go with it? I like Parker James, DH likes Parker Joe.

Prefer Parker James to Parker Joe. If you really like it then don't be put off by what a celebrity picks, it's maddening when that happens but many more newborns won't be called Parker than those that are.

Who is he/ she? Never heard of them tbh but if other people's opinions bother you a lot then don't do it. Have you thought of other surnames e . G . Cooper, Fraser

CogsworthAndJerry · 22/11/2013 11:20

Frankie Sandford is from the Saturdays.

I've also considered Finley, Lachlan and Grayson for DS but I think I still prefer Parker. It goes well with both mine and DH's surname too ( we haven't decided which one he's going to have though).

I love Parker for a first name!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 22/11/2013 11:25

Just thinking, does either surname start with S? (PJS Parker James S.....).

CogsworthAndJerry · 22/11/2013 12:16

Both are surnames begin with B.

you will get a lot of flak for it on here but I love Parker as a name (and surnamey boys names in general)

flatmum · 22/11/2013 12:20

Also like Lachlan. Beware Finley though, even though it's a nice name, esp of you like unusual names as it is very, very, very common round here (London and southeast)

ButThereAgain · 22/11/2013 12:22

Just a warning that there might be quite a lot of people, like me, who associate the name very strongly with the puppet-chauffeur/butler in Thunderbirds, and who therefore find it a bit comical.

CogsworthAndJerry · 22/11/2013 12:29

Sorry that was meant to be ^our' surnames begin with B.

My dad says it reminds him to much of Thunderbirds however I've never seen it so...

I quite like Parker. Am a bit of a fan of surname-y first names.
Like Grayson too (love Gray) as well as Jackson, Wilson, Fletcher and Bronson.
Finlay is good but more popular; Lachlan is ok.
Go with Parker!

meditrina · 22/11/2013 20:11

I wouldn't make the sleb association.

The name does not appeal to me, however, because of the Thunderbirds associations.

I prefer James to Joe as the middle name.

hollyisalovelyname · 22/11/2013 20:17

I think it is a hard sounding word- Parker.
He may be called Nosy as a nickname.
Yes, the fact that the name is in the news will make it popular ( common )

hollyisalovelyname · 22/11/2013 20:18

Congrats by the way.
Lachlan is ace.

Ehhn · 22/11/2013 20:21

My surname is parker...

mrsminiverscharlady · 22/11/2013 20:24

If your last name is Barker then definitely not...

meditrina · 22/11/2013 20:24

This is Parker from the Thunderbirds. As it's a geek/nerd classic, the association isn't going to go away.

Cohenite · 22/11/2013 20:28

My immediate reaction was Nosy - word association, I'm afraid.

BananaPie · 22/11/2013 20:30

I have never heard of Frankie Sanford or the Saturdays. Can't be all that famous?

LaurieFairyCake · 22/11/2013 20:35

Nosy Parker

Parker Pen

A thunderbird

Really?

CogsworthAndJerry · 22/11/2013 21:26

They aren't really that famous, so I suppose I am worrying over nothing.

I think I am going to stick with Parker since I've liked it for years. It's also the only name DH and I can really agree on.

And no, neither of our surnames is Barker Grin

Thunderbirds here, too, sorry.

'Parker'

'Yes... Milady'

Bohemond · 23/11/2013 14:42

I thought it was a girl's name! As in Parker Posey.
