Due to have our 4th baby in Feb, we have decided on Louise for a middle name but can't decide between Iona or Annabel for a first name. Thoughts please??

Iona....such a beautiful place, have you been? Absolutely beautiful with a hidden beach that is deserted and looks as though it could be the Caribbean. We would have used this if our surname wasn't also a noun (i.e. it would sound like 'I own a...').

Absolutely love Annabel - wanted it for my daughters but a very close friend got in there first. Iona is pretty and unusual - maybe if you have a Scottish connection. Louise is my middle name and really like that too - you very rarely hear it now.

How do you pronounce Iona? I'm probably being dense Hmm if it's how I think then I like it! And I've never really liked Annabel unfortunately

Catchhimatwhat · 20/11/2013 10:49

Iona....

It's a lovely name and a stunning place. God I miss Scotland! Grin

TrueBoo · 20/11/2013 14:16

Iona.

MummyofIsla · 20/11/2013 14:22

You literally say it as it's spelt so "I own a (not the ay way)" hope that makes sense.

DD is an Isla and when I was pregnant it was that or Iona so definately Iona.

Not keen on Annabel sorry, its a little posh for me.

TheTruffleHunter · 20/11/2013 14:24

Iona. Beautiful!

hulabaloo · 20/11/2013 15:45

Iona is lovely - classic, elegant and not oversused. Great name and goes will with Louise!

Iona is gorgeous.

I like Annabel too, but Iona has the edge as it's less cute.

AcrylicPlexiglass · 20/11/2013 16:48

I like Annabel because it is my daughter's favourite doll. Agree it could have connotations of being a relatively "posh" name, if that matters to you. Quite like Iona.

MrsBungleScare · 20/11/2013 16:50

Iona for sure (provided it goes with your surname)

HyvaPaiva · 20/11/2013 16:52

Iona

cloggal · 20/11/2013 16:53

Like Iona a lot. Annabel a little frilly for my taste.

Sammie101 · 20/11/2013 17:27

Thank you Mummyofisla! I really like Iona, it's unique and very pretty! I also adore the name Isla Smile

Juliealpha · 20/11/2013 17:45

Wow, thanks everyone, that answers that! I prefer Iona too so I think that's settled.

Annabel!

GrandstandingBlueTit · 21/11/2013 07:31

Iona is lovely.

Has the rare quality of being timeless, i.e. not associated with a particular era, and so you'd be able to tell the age of an Iona.

allbottledup · 21/11/2013 08:10

Iona.

I love Annabel but those Baby Annabel dolls really creep me out!
