This is a French girls' name. We are French living in the UK - how does it sound to the British ear?

It sounds like alex(andra) so sounds nice. She'll spend a lot of time correcting people though!

Alisvolatpropiis · 11/11/2013 22:54

It sounds nice but people will assume it's in some way short for Alexandra

Pretty name OP. Yes some will presume its a nickname or spelt incorrectly though. That wouldn't bother me if I loved a name.

I know an (adult) Alix, I'm sure she has to say 'with an i' quite often but there are lots of names like that and it's very pretty and natural. She has a slightly French look which helps!

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/11/2013 17:26

The assumption it's Alex/andra wouldn't bother me particularly, I meant to say last night.

I like Alys not Alice and have been told people will think in just trying to be "trendy". It's the Welsh form,I am Welsh, other people can get used to the name.

I did think Alix was German though

Bonsoir · 12/11/2013 17:26

I think it's a very pretty name.

BoundandRebound · 12/11/2013 17:27

Makes me think of Ajax

I wouldn't personally

halecromp · 12/11/2013 19:18

I like it

Nataleejah · 12/11/2013 20:38

Alex would be nicer

tiredteddy · 12/11/2013 20:41

Alix is my sisters name. She does have to say with an "I" a lot. She loved it on French holidays as children when she could find things with her name on liks key rings etc. fab name I think!

vitaminC · 12/11/2013 20:42

I love it, but I am French.

I think it's actually the Latin form of Alice (like Beatrix vs Beatrice).
Anyway, it sounds pretty to my ears and is less unisex than Alex.
