Expecting a little girl and we really can't make a decision. We already have a Jessica and possibles have included Amelie/Amelia, Harriet, Esme, Imogen, Madeleine, Caitlin, Poppy.

DH and I are getting desperate as we can't find the 1 name we love....suggestions welcome!!

I like all except Amelia I'd go with Imogen or Madeline.

I didn't know the sex of my baby before it was born but had a list of names for both sexes but not really a favourite one. We decided that if it was a girl I would pick a name and if a boy, my husband would pick a name. As soon as my son was born my husband picked a name without hesitation because he knew as soon as he saw him which name would suit him and I loved it. Maybe you will be the same when you see your little girl and one of your names will just 'fit' her perfectly. Best of luck.

We knew we were having a girl and had a list of names we liked and she didn't end up with any of them! I really do think there is something to waiting until you meet them before you decide.

LondonInHighHeeledBoots · 11/11/2013 23:12

Amelia is very common (popular), I really like both Esme and Imogen but quite popular again. Caitlin is nice, nn Kitty? Don't like Harriet or Madeleine and Poppy is very twee.

What about Hester/Esther, Violet (quite popular in some places though), Abigail, Ruth, Edith (nn Edie, Erin, Catriona

You may well just 'know' once when you see her!

Jessica and Romilly

Jessica and Ava

Jessica and Beatrice

Of your ideas I like Esme (I have one, though she's an Esmé), Harriet and Imogen best.

Caitlin is nice but not as striking as Esmé, Harriet or Imogen.

Amelia is very, very popular, it was no. 1 girls name last year, there are 2 in my 5 yr old's class at school.

Madeline is OK bit clunky sounding though I think.

I also think Poppy is twee.

Spaghettinetti · 12/11/2013 14:48

I like Harriet best.

Bakingtins · 12/11/2013 15:57

I'd rule out Amelia on popularity, every toddler group we go to is rammed with Amelia/Mia/Milly combos.
From your shortlist I like Imogen and Caitlin.

morethanpotatoprints · 12/11/2013 16:01

I like Amelie best and wish I'd called dd this, but hadn't heard it then.
It's also a bit different, Amelia is really popular, so is Caitlin if you want a popular name. I was going to call ds2 Poppy if he'd been a girl, but not sure it would have been a good idea, don't know why. Sorry, that's not helpful Grin
Maybe wait until you see her and it may be obvious, I wouldn't worry.

CrispyHedgehogFucker · 12/11/2013 17:57

I wouldn't worry about having a name, when mine were born their names just came to us.

ZeroTolerance · 12/11/2013 18:39

CrispyHedgehog - perhaps MN should shut down the baby names board then? GrinGrinGrin

Bebo1980 · 13/11/2013 09:48

Thank you everybody, think at the moment we're going with Amelie, although as everyone has said this may change when we see her! Just need a middle name now! Very excited!

Esme is the best name

Justletmestayinbed · 13/11/2013 22:25

Ooh well my sister is called Jessica and I'm a Harriet so I'd go for that :)

Justletmestayinbed · 13/11/2013 22:28

But Amelie is gorgeous too :)

AnyFuckerWillDo · 13/11/2013 22:30

Harriet or Madeline
