First time poster,

My DW is 3 months pregnant a with our 2nd child.

Thinking about names and we have come up with one for a boy which we love but think others may question!

Is Dexter a suitable name for a baby boy, we fell in love with the name after watching the series of the same names out a seriel killer

Advice always welcome

I love the name. But I had a crush on Dexter Fletcher years ago, so am biased.

Spaghettinetti · 11/11/2013 15:12

Ah,go for it! :-)

overmydeadbody · 11/11/2013 15:14

It is a lovely name, go for it!

I don't think it matters that it's the same as Dexter Morgan.

Rosencrantz · 11/11/2013 15:28

I'll always think of Dexter's Laboratory when I hear Dexter.

And for that reason alone I love it.

SS3J · 11/11/2013 18:05

I think it's a good name. It's not at all weird, in fact I think it's in the top 100 now!

newboybecks · 11/11/2013 18:30

i am liking the feedback so far, Dexter is our only choice that my wife and I agree on

Not for me - I have known about 3 dogs called Dexter (and 1 rabbit as it happens) but no people, and I think that influences my thinking Grin

CarryOnDancing · 11/11/2013 19:35

It's a name I know irl so is perfectly useable for me. I like it! Not enough to use it myself but I do like it.

How exciting that you might have "the one"!

HappyJustToBe · 11/11/2013 19:37

Love it.

BabyMummy29 · 11/11/2013 19:37

Dexter is ok - wouldn't be a choice of mine but I tend to like biblical or old-fashioned names rather than modern ones.

If you like it, go for it!

I know more than one; it's getting quite trendy in some areas.

I wouldn't necessarily say he was named after a fictional serial killer though Grin

juneybean · 11/11/2013 21:47

Charlotte Church has a Dexter I think?

dimdommilpot · 12/11/2013 17:44

I know 2 Dexters under 3. Its a good name.

Littlecherublegs · 13/11/2013 20:35

I quite like it.

Don't know any children called it but know one dog - and he's one cool dog!

BikeRunSki · 13/11/2013 20:36

It's fine

My only association is Dexter Fletcher

mervynmouse · 13/11/2013 20:44

This was my fully prepped name for DS ten years ago but he didn't turn out to look like a Dexter. Regret it a bit now, suits his personality well. It's a great name Smile

superlambanana · 13/11/2013 20:46

I really like it but sadly my DH doesn't so I can't use it Angry
