My dd actually named my ds , she was 3 at time and thankfully chose a normal name , sam.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 09/11/2013 21:20

My DS chose my DD's name too (from a shortlist of about 8 names). She is called Eva. His fav film at the time was Wall:E (...and Eva!) His other suggestion was Nina because it sounded like a fire engine!

gintastic · 09/11/2013 21:22

My DD wanted Annie for a girl. We had a girl, and gave her a name that Annie can be a nickname for, IYSWIM. They have a lovely relationship with each other, DD1 was so chuffed that she got to name her :-)

TiredFeet · 09/11/2013 21:22

My son, 3, is pretty sure the baby should have his name too. He can't see any major problems with this, but did reluctantly suggest Percy as an alternative

HerRoyalNotness · 09/11/2013 21:23

DS1 would name any future brothers Akira, for his best friend

Helspopje · 09/11/2013 21:26

My 3 yo dd1 chose Sam for our ds too. How v odd!

I blame Sunday School who were doing Samuel and Eli when I was nearly due. We went with it as it seemed a fitting name as this pregnancy was dearly wanted having lost dd2 in the middle and we were indeed thankful that our prayers were answered when he arrived safely.

Weegiemum · 09/11/2013 21:27

My dd1 thought Bagpuss was a good name for either a boy or girl.

Mr DD1 chose the name for DD2. She had lots of friends called Jessica and liked the name. It went well with her name and we had nothing we liked better, so Jessica it was.

I did ask her what she'd want if the baby was a boy and she thought for a while, then announced, "Quincy." (Her Dad used to watch it at the weekends). :) :)

BartBaby · 09/11/2013 21:43

My 4yr old ds is adamant that our dd should be called Millie. Although we probably won't go with it, it is much better than his boy name suggestions of Ben (his name), Barry or Sully.

HoratiaDrelincourt · 09/11/2013 21:52

DS1 suggested all his friends' names, one after another. He was easily persuaded that eg we don't want to reuse an initial letter, not use a name of one of his cousins, etc.

He is delighted today with DS3's name so it all worked out fine.

Astarael · 09/11/2013 22:05

I love Percy Tiredfeet my mum was v mean about it when I was pregnant which put me off and I had a dd anyway but I think I'll pop it back on the list when expecting #2.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 09/11/2013 22:07

3 yo DS is desperate that his sister will be called Lightning McQueen. Hmm

HoratiaDrelincourt · 09/11/2013 22:35

Astarael that reminds me that when I was expecting DS2, DS1 suggested James, Edward, Thomas, Henry ... Percy, Gordon, Topham Hatt...

LifeHuh · 09/11/2013 22:36

DD wanted Ds to be called Britney Spears. We decided best not ! Smile

Strokethefurrywall · 10/11/2013 01:00

DS (2 years) has decided that baby (sex unknown) should be called George Dinosaur Time Out.

I don't think he understands the concept of baby naming.

Astarael · 10/11/2013 06:02

Horatia who's Topham Hatt?? They haven't renamed the fat controller have they? Shock

3bunnies · 10/11/2013 06:17

My sister chose my name and then lorded it over me as another example of her power that she had named me. Until I changed it when I was 7 :) (there were other reasons in my 7yr old brain too and still don't regret it!)

lisbapalea · 10/11/2013 07:20

Dd's suggestion for my bump, if it's a boy, is lasagne

AnathemaDevice · 10/11/2013 09:49

DS1 was adamant that DC3 would be called Percy for a girl or Gordon for a boy. He was 3 1/2 at the time. Luckily he was happy with what we eventually chose (Rory. Not after the Racing Car, but after the Doctor Who character, which is obviously far more sensible)

BikeRunSki · 10/11/2013 09:57

Ds wanted to call dd Digger.

I know of child whose sister chose her name.
,and is Maisie Dora, after the mouse and the explorer.

BlessedAssurance · 10/11/2013 12:52

DD has vetoed all the names we had chosen for DC2 because they are names of her fellow nursery mates. She is 3 and has chosen Dominic out of a very long list we had. Not surprising as there are 85 kids at her kindergarten. The good thing is it's the only name that DH and I had agreed on:-)

BlessedAssurance · 10/11/2013 12:53

And may i add that DC2 is a boy
