Due this week, really struggling: Lucy, Miranda or Orla

All girls names we like seem to be ruled out by having already been used in our gigantic family. Our other DD is Alice.

I like Orla.
My DH likes Miranda best.
Lucy is our compromise name.

What do you think? Running out of time...

I know lots of lucys born in past year or so, that would rule lucy out for me. Not so keen on Miranda either, so that leaves Orla.

StormyBrid · 30/10/2013 07:40

I'd skip Orla as it seems very popular at the moment - of a dozen babies I know born at the same time as mine, two are called Orla, and a third would have been if he hadn't been a boy. I'd go for Lucy, it's a classic (and also she was Aslan's favourite!).

baskingseals · 30/10/2013 07:40

I don't think Miranda will date, quite the reverse, I think it is classic, underused and beautiful.

My vote is for Miranda

Beans1977 · 03/11/2013 19:21

I vote for Lucy - but I admit bias as I have one! She's 14 months and we haven't met another one yet!

Btw I'm expecting dc#2 and if it's a girl we are thinking Alice! Good luck xx

CountingStars · 03/11/2013 19:47

I think Lucy goes better, but also Miranda.

polkadottop · 03/11/2013 20:05

Thanks everyone. Overdue and no closer to a decision. I guess we'll just have to see what she looks like!

Orla Miranda flows nicely as a first and middle name. Miranda makes me think of The Tempest Smile

sleepingbeautiful · 03/11/2013 20:39

I like Miranda and little girl nn Mimi or Mizzie.
Lucy is a bit 'squeaky' for me, like sickly sweet, but maybe I just met too many annoying ones.
Orla is lovely, but I think Miranda goes better with Alice.

MarthasHarbour · 03/11/2013 21:09

Orla Orla Orla Orla Orla..... Grin

(how can you tell i love the name - my friend has an Orla and she is an absolute cutie and the name really suits her)

LittleSiouxieSue · 04/11/2013 11:50

Do all three!!! Then use the one that suits her personality.

lemonpoppyseed · 05/11/2013 01:08

Sorry to throw another name into the mix but you might like Orly; a friend just chose this for her daughter. A nice mix of Orla and Lucy!

happy2help · 05/11/2013 01:45

I really like all three - so I'm no help at all!

Beachballfamily · 05/11/2013 11:39

Orla. Especially as you're actually Irish!

Coupon · 05/11/2013 12:29

Lucy Miranda, or Miranda Lucy.

I don't like Orla, it's a tonguetwister and a bit toothbrushy.

pygmy · 05/11/2013 13:31

Lucy! Alice and Lucy are lovely together.

halecromp · 05/11/2013 13:42

I am not keen on Miranda but love Lucy and Orla. I think Orla goes best with Alice.

Tikkamasala · 05/11/2013 22:47

Definitely Lucy. I also like orla, don't really like Miranda.

WhatTheFoxSays · 06/11/2013 12:55

Lucy.

Miranda is okay and as for Orla...hell no!

Marli1980 · 10/11/2013 14:35

All are nice esp orla

Wuldric · 10/11/2013 14:39

I think you should wait to see your lovely new baby. The name will become apparent then, I reckon.

Orla sounds lovely and elfin and ethereal. But if you have a baby that will clearly not suit that name, then it sort of becomes obvious. With DS, I had definitely decided upon Marcus - it is a name that works in both languages and works because of family connotations - but when I met my tubby bundle of gorgeousness, I realised that such a patrician name just would not ever work for him. Wait and see.

SootikinAndSweep · 11/11/2013 20:46

Miranda, then Lucy a long way behind. Orla for me is lumpen and plain.
