Stacey

Bronwen

Stacey - Slater.

Bronwen - angry faced librarian who wears tweed and sensible shoes.

Gretel - should never have listened to Hansel.

Stacey makes me think of Stacey slater too. I thought she was great. Bronwen is nice and you don't hear it often. How about bronagh? It's similar but softer.

BlueChampagne · 24/10/2013 15:08

How about Greta instead of Gretel?

YDdraigGoch · 24/10/2013 15:10

Stacey - bit chavvy for me

Bronwen - love it, but know lots, being of the Welsh persuasion myself.

Gretel - bit foreign (unless you're "foreign")

Littlecherublegs · 24/10/2013 17:39

Stacey - not keen, maybe because I knew of one who was a bit of a nightmare!

Bronwen - really like this!

Gretel - not keen, too fairystory. Greta is better.

Lastofthepodpeople · 24/10/2013 17:43

Stacey - don't like at all
Bronwen - not what I would choose but okay
Gretel - love it. Was on my shortlist had DS been a girl

funnyflowersky · 24/10/2013 19:17

What squoosh said.

IsThatTrue · 24/10/2013 19:21

Stacey is a great name Wink we're not all chavvy. :)

I do like Bronwen though

hettienne · 24/10/2013 19:21

Greta is nicer than Gretel.

Stacey is a bit dated, popular in the 80s/early 90s? If you like names of that style I prefer Macey or Lacey.

Bronwen - sounds like a nice middle aged lady to me!

hettienne · 24/10/2013 19:24

I prefer Anwen to Bronwen.

ThePuffyShirt · 24/10/2013 20:04

Stacey, er no.

Bronwen is quite nice.

Gretel in my mind is hefty and wears lederhosen.

TaurielTest · 24/10/2013 20:10

I like Gretel. You probably know this already, but it's a version of Greta (the -l ending in "Hansl and Gretl" is a regional German diminutive - high German equivalent would be Gretchen) - so you could always use Greta/Margreta and have Gretel for short if you liked.

scoutfinch1 · 24/10/2013 20:13

Bronwen is nice. Greta is a nicer alternative to Gretel. Not keen on Stacey at all.

looki · 24/10/2013 20:30

Stacey - I hate this name, knew an awful one rough and tough so that's now how I think of the name.

Bronwyn - always think it sounds more like a colour than a girls name. There is just nothing pretty about it.

Gretel - not keen. What about Gretchen?

GideonKipper · 24/10/2013 21:03

Well you can't say there's nothing pretty about Bronwyn then go on to suggest Gretchen. Retching Gretchen.

Stacey does seem very Essex girl, and dated with it. Bronwyn/Bronwen is ok but think I actually prefer Gwyneth or Gwen which is, to me, of the same ilk.
