Both nice, but all four names fairly popular round here. We have several Elsies, Molly/ies and Roses in Brownies at any given time. Mae not so popular.

Not Mae. Never Mae/May. Elsie or Mollie Rose are cute.

I like Mavis

I think you should name your child whatever you want. Not everyone is going to like your choice.

Seeing as you asked though, i cant think of any reason to ever use an alternate spelling of May and i think it looks ridiculous. As does changing names spelt with a y to an ie just to be 'different'.

Elsie and Molly are both nice names though, as is Rose.

Actually, I haven't changed any names to be 'different'! Mae was my great aunts names and Mollie was my husbands Nan's name.....both spelt exactly like that.

We named out daughter Mollie Heather after my DH's grandmother too. She was a Molly but we changed to ie as we felt it fit better. I didn't particularly like the name anyway but it suits her to the ground.

It does look nicer, but I'm so sick of correcting people on the spelling! Even family members can't get it right after 3 years and there's some pretty complicated names in our brood.

Mollie is a good name, if you're prepared to spell it every time.
