our third child is due next week and we are still undecided.
Dh is of Nigerian origin so we have a Nigerian surname. His late father was named Gabriel and its growing on me.
We have 2 girls and this is our 1st boy.
is it too feminine?
who likes it ?

other favs are Benjamin and Arron.

Love, love Gabriel. It's a beautiful name Smile

MomentForLife · 19/10/2013 09:28

I love it. Don't think it's girly, I've known several toddlers called Gabriel.

mikkii · 19/10/2013 09:29

DS was nearly Gabriel. We decided to wait, DD1 is Gabriela. But that was our preference, not because we thought Gabriel was too feminine. DS is Valentino.

Frecklesandspecs · 19/10/2013 09:30

Ty! Is it quite common now then? :-*
our daughters are Anna and Elisa

I don't know any and have DC at a Catholic school

JumpingJackSprat · 19/10/2013 09:41

Is lovely I met a little curly haired toddler Gabriel the other day he was gorgeous. It's good for every stage of life as well.

Marrow · 19/10/2013 09:55

I know an adult Gabriel that I have known since he was a toddler. His name has always suited him.

allbottledup · 19/10/2013 10:14

I know an adult Gabriel and a baby Gabriel. Both known as Gabe. I love it.

BigWoooooo · 19/10/2013 10:16

Love it! But cannot use it myself as dd is Gabriella!

AugustRose · 20/10/2013 18:16

I love it too, DD2 would have been Gabriel if she'd been a boy.

Frecklesandspecs · 20/10/2013 19:24

all thumbs up so far. think me and Dh are decided now! just hope the scan was correct and it is a boy!

Gabriel and Gabriella are both on our list. It's so hard tho. Yesterday I didn't like either of them today I love them both. Was always indecisive but pregnancy has made it 10 times worse!

Frecklesandspecs · 21/10/2013 10:25

I've found boys names much more difficult thanchosing a girls name for some reason....

CrispyFB · 21/10/2013 10:28

There's a lot more of them in America than here in the UK. It sits quite comfortably in the not-hugely-unusual-but-you-don't-see-too-many category which is the category we aspire to for naming! Somewhere in the low 100s I think? Anyway I've only ever had very positive reactions to my 2.5 year old with many people saying how much they love the name.

TenthMuse · 21/10/2013 11:16

Beautiful name, by no means too feminine - I say go for it!

squoosh · 21/10/2013 11:22

I adore the name Gabriel.

BettyBi0 · 21/10/2013 22:59

Gorgeous name and definitely on my short list if I ever have a boy.

I don't put Gabriel and Gabriella in the same box for some reason though.

Emmabombemma · 24/10/2013 00:13

I love it. It was my first choice for a boy. It's such a strong, classic name.
