Marianne is gorgeous, very pretty and unusual. dislike Florence.

Hi I prefer Marianne to Florence too. Pretty name. Would you shorten it? I like it as it is.

My number one girls name and DH has absolutely vetoed it so I'm extremely if you get to use it! Elegant, beautiful without being remotely frilly, timeless, and pulls off the miraculous trick of echoing both Jane Austen and Leonard Cohen (both favourites of mine). Go for it!

I like Florence (DD middle name, so I would) Not so much Marianne, know someone with a Marielena can also spell it without the first 'e', which is also pretty.

I knew two adult Mariannes, both in Aberdeen. Neither were shortened. Lovely name.

My DDs have a friend called Marianna, and while I am very happy with my DDs names, I often have a pang of 'something' that I did not think of Marianna!

I adore Marianne, it's an underused classic.

I don't like Florence, I find it quite a hard name and it doesn't have many shortenings that are nice either.

Minty what reasons did your DH give for vetoing it? He clearly has no taste (in names), so can't you just overrule him?
