I love Otis and Jude, and like Caspar. I think you should add Rex to the list, Skye, Arlo and Rex sound fab! (and he'd end up being Rexy-roo.....then roo :) )

Or what about Rory or Rodri if you like R names?

Finn. Milo.

Love the above suggestion of Otis, goes well with your other children's names.
from your list Caspar would be my choice.

I have a Caspar who was very nearly a Jude!
Love both. my Caspar is 3 now and we still got nice comments about his name all the time. I think both names suit the same person (if that makes sense). my son would match either

You really have to use Rufus as a middle name. You are definitely going to regret not using it and that will be your back up in 6 months time when you wish you had used it.

I know...you're all right,I will regret using it.

maybe I should just Suck It Up and feign ignorance...

Jude, Soren and Kip are all amazingly cool :)

Oh god - sorry - they are all a bit middle class try hard here (bristol..)

Report
kelda · 12/10/2013 07:16

there are plenty of middle-class try-hards in Bristol...

and I repeat, Kip means chicken in Dutch. There are loads of dutch-speakers in the UK who will snigger every time they hear the 'name'.

Caspar -- ok
Oisin -- nice
Pip -- not as a name in itself, would have to be short for Philip.
Errol -- no good with Arlo - too similar and hard to shout together.
Torin -- madey uppey sounding.
Idris -- too unisex imo.
Asa -- nice but maybe too close to Arlo? Both short names beginning with A and ending with vowel...
Jude -- Like a lot.
Wilbur (Bertie) -- pig in Charlotte's Web.
Phineas - OK, but looks as if you're trying too hard to find an original version of Finn.
(Finn would be very nice otoh)
Emery -- Emery board..
Oswin -- Reminds me too much of Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances. And also Oswald Moseley. Double whammy there.
Kip -- Means nap. And chicken in Dutch.
(Kit is nice, as nn for Christopher)
Taliesin -- Way OTT, esp with a double barreled surname.
Sorren -- nice spelled with only one R (Soren). Sorren looks too much like 'Sorry'.

So I guess I only really like Jude, with Phineas and Caspar tying for third.

I like Finn and Kit (Christopher) as alternatives.

And Oisin too.

Love Taliesin, we seriously considered using this if we'd had a boy.

Sorren makes me think of Soren Lorenson from Charlie and LOL.

Why no Rufus if you love it?

I think Caspar Torin goes well (but have no nn suggestion other than Cas which you've said you don't like ).
Asa Pip, Jude Caspar and Taliesin Kip (nn Tal?) are good combinations imho.

If you like Rufus and Rudy would you consider Reuben/Ruben nn Ru?
Or Raphael/Rafael nn Raff or Raffa?
Arlo is a fab name - I'll just throw in another suggestion - what about Woody Halloween Grin
As in Woody (Woodrow) Guthrie, father of Arlo.....

You must use Idris, and then watch Ivor the Engine with him. Fabulous!

I like Pip for Philip but not as a name in it's own right, it's very unsubstantial. Kip even more so, and I know a child called Kip (to me it is a bit of a wtf name). Kit for Christopher is lovely though.

Can't really see how Wilbur goes to Bertie, but then I don't like Bertie very much! Feels very twee to me.

Jude is pretty cool. I don't like Oswin, but what about Edwin?

Reuben is a bit too popular for us,but is a lovely name,Raphael is nice, but not really our style, love Raffy though Grin

Woody is perhaps a step too far Wink

I like Caspar Torrin a lot
Asa Pip is pretty cool too.

DP has now vetoed Taliesin git
