So these are my picks for a girl or boy...

Benjamin is lovely.

To me Lorna is a bit dated, but no reason it can't have a revival, and you wont have 3 of them in your dd's class!

If you love it, go for it!

Both are nice enough, not overly popular but not unusual either.
I prefer Benedict to Benjamin, and am not too keen on Ben (and hate Benny!).
I know of 2 Lorna's aged 40 & 60 who are both lovely!

Lorna isn't. Very common amongst 40 something Scottish women, I find it terribly frumpy.

I think Lorna is a fantastic choice - surely if it isn't trendy for little girls now, it is a good thing as your dd won't have to add her surname initial to her name to be identified. Lorna sounds very feminine and elegant to my ears.

Benjamin is ok but I find Ben a little dull - there are loads of them out there already. I too prefer Benedict but even he will end up as Ben...

I love Lorna - before my boys were born we chose Mairi or Kirsty as our girls choices, but Lorna would be my top choice now - i know a teen Lorna - very stylish girl - it isn't a frumpy name to me at all but i suppose we are all influenced by the names of people we know and associate them with them.

Benjamin I think is nice enough, I only know one who is definitely alwasy known as Ben and I also know a Ben that isn't short for anything.

I don't really see Benjamin as being similar in style to Lorna if that matters, I would probably have picked something a little more Scottish e.g. Ross, Nairn or Harris.

I've an irrational hatred of Lorna, sounds frumpy to me and dated, sorry! I do like Laura though.
