I am expecting my second child. My first is Samuel Leslie Cooper (surname). DP and I like Serenity Octavia Claire (surname) for a girl and Jeffrey Octavius Andrew (surname) for a boy. What do you think?

I don't Samuel and Jeffrey go quite as well together as Serenity and Samuel do, and not sure about Octavia/Octavius. Is that a sort of family related name, or just a name you like?

I really like the girls names but the boys not so much. I think it might be because Jeffrey could end up as Geoff.

OutragedFromLeeds · 29/09/2013 17:14

I don't like either of them tbh.

Serenity and Jeffrey are both awful.

Claire and Andrew are both fine, but very dull.

Octavia is ok. Octavius sounds like a villain from a comic book.

If you are going to use them I'd change the order because you can't have Octavius sandwiched between Jeffrey and Andrew and Octavia followed by Claire. I'd go for Claire Octavia Serenity and Andrew Jeffrey Octavius.

Octavia and Octavius are family names on DP's side. Claire is a family name on my side. What would be a good boy's name that would go with either Octavius or Octavian? Not Michael, Adam, James or Duncan as we already have relatives with those names, otherwise pretty much anything goes Smile

Jacob
Nathaniel
Noah
Tobias
Joseph
Daniel
Elias
Elijah
Alexander
David
Max
Thomas
William
Henry
Joshua

I'd put all those in the same bracket as Samuel (which is lovely by the way). I think I prefer Octavian to Octavius.

I really like Jeffrey. Serenity might be a lot to live up to though.

Tavv · 30/09/2013 11:21

I like the names but yes, Serenity might be a lot to live up to. How about Serena, or Seren?

George, John, Julian, Clement, Henry?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/09/2013 21:13

Don't like either of them at all, sorry.

Love Claire.

Wishfulmakeupping · 30/09/2013 22:51

Sorry not liking either all of outraged suggestions are miles better

Hmm I can see what you mean about Serenity. I like Alexander best off Outraged's list, thank you

Do you picture a sleeping cherub, rosebud lips and sweet smelling, or a flustered cross mummy hissing at a red-faced wilful toddler,
"Serenity! Stop that! Come here now!" Grin

If Octavia (which I like) and Octavius are family names, seems perfectly fine to add them as second or third names.

Honestly, after a lot of novel and exciting new names, somehow Claire and Andrew and Jeffrey seem quite daring for being traditional. Almost refreshing.
