Urgent! Names like Giles?

Xiaoxiong · 27/09/2013 13:52

Currently waiting on the ward for a section - we know we're having a boy and months ago chose the names Giles William.

Sudden panic - what if he comes out and doesn't look like a Giles? We can't think of any other names in the same vein! Older son is Pirran so has to work with that.

Suggestions? (Would ANY baby look like a Giles anyway??)

Yes Giles William is lively and goes v well with your older sons name as well. best of luck :)

ThreeProngedPlug · 27/09/2013 20:01

Good luck!

I think of Guy, Piers, Alistair, Timothy, Charles as in a similar vein. Good luck.

MrsCocoa · 27/09/2013 20:04

Fergus? Angus? Hugo?

TheHappyCamper · 27/09/2013 20:09

I was thinking Hugh, Clay, Kier, Drew (love it) and maybe Cassius or Cole?

Is it the 'short' sound you like or the type of name?

I like Giles. I like Miles as well actually!

Not heard of Pirran before - where does that come from? It's nice Smile

Giles William sounds great! Good luck with the birth!!
(all newborns look the same imo, choose a name you love)

TalkativeJim · 27/09/2013 22:11

Spencer, which also goes with Pirran.

Goes with Pirran: Jago, Gabriel, Otis, Magnus.

LauraChant · 27/09/2013 22:13

Funnily enough there was a "names like Miles" thread some months back. I am sure names like Miles are also names like Giles.

runningonwillpower · 27/09/2013 22:14

Giles is lovely.

But to be really honest I can't work with Pirran because it's a name I've never heard of.

So, I can only comment on Giles - and it's lovely.

NoComet · 27/09/2013 22:23

Piran/Perran is the patron saint of Cornwall, and it is used as a boys name with various spellings in those parts.

I like Giles, ours at school was a real character, bright red hair and always at the centre of any good spirited mischief that was going on.

Oddly Miles is much the equivalent in DDs class.

Xiaoxiong · 27/09/2013 22:41

Well he has arrived safely and he definitely is Giles - thank you so much for all the great suggestions though!! Thanks Having some excellent alternatives gave us confidence in our chosen name Smile
