Hi,i am due a baby girl in December,i posted before about the name Posy, but ive decided against it now,it doesn't seem strong enough for an adult woman so have been thinking of some others.

My favorite two are Penelope and Jemima,i have a daughter called Tabitha,dh likes Penelope but doesn't like Penny (i imagine i would call her Pen or Nell,or even Nelly!)and isnt keen on Jemima,he really liked Posy because he hadn't heard it before.I want something feminine and slightly old fashioned but not too cutesy.

I also like that Jemima has the connection to Beatrix Potter like Tabitha does, but then Penelope is greek like Tabitha, but were not greek so it doesnt really matter!

How spooky was just lying next to DS trying to get him to sleep when I was thinking about girls names and Penelope popped into my head. I really like itSmile

I really like Penelope.

But I think that the Beatrix Potter / Jemima Puddleduck connection makes Jemima very cutesy.

I have a 6 month old Penelope and love it. She's a Nelly or Nell at the moment, but that may change as she grows!

Penelope.

My name's Jemma and throughout my teens there were a couple of instances where my name was misread as Jemima, I guess because they saw the J with the two m's and just assumed Jemima Blush And obviously assuming that the name Jemma would always be spelt Gemma. My name was also often misread as Jenna too. In any case, it has put me off the name Jemima as it always makes me think of those awkward situations in school when new teachers would misread it and call out "Jemima" instead.
