Me and hubby have been discussing baby names and although we have got a girl's name we like there is not a single boys name that either of us can say, "I like it."

We are having a sexing scan in 3 weeks and hopefully they will say it's a girl otherwise we are screwed Grin

We just don't like ANYTHING!!

I need some inspiration - what are you ladies calling your boys lately???

So many lovely names for boys and if you are having a DS you will adore him so much that the name just won't seem the issue it does now

WillThatComeOffEasily · 27/09/2013 20:46

If I had a boy I'd call him Robin.

Hubby has come up with 2 names that he likes, Kian and Harrison.

I like the name Kian, (pronounced key-un) and I know of one, but unfortunately whenever I hear the name I think of this child's mother - and her image is definitely not something I want in my mind every time I use my son's name Grin

And as for Harrison, I didn't think I would like surnamey-names but it is definitely growing on me!! And I love the idea of Harry as a nickname Smile

If you like Zoe Caroline and you don't like names that are "out there" then I presume you like other classic 70s/80s baby names:

Peter
Christopher
Jason
Matthew
Scott
Nicholas
Andrew
Robert
Ryan
Daniel
David
Michael

Hi Writer Smile. How is your pg going? I'm very jealous!

I like Harry btw - really nice name (though I used to hate it; funny how taste chnges). I also like:

Tom
Rafe
Rafferty
James
Jamie
Jake

if that helps at all!

Writerwannabe83 · 29/09/2013 09:42

My sisters little boy is called William. Smile

Me and DH did like Liam at one point but felt having a William and a Liam was a bit much...

I think you are dismissing names you like for reasons that don't matter, that's why you're having so much trouble!

Really, once you call your child a name you won't be thinking of someone else's mum or some acquaintance's child with the same name, who you may not even be in touch with in a couple of years.

Evan Liam and William are actually different names so why veto it.

CleverOl10 · 30/09/2013 21:20

My son is called Oliver. I love the name - but don't have a back up if we have another son!

Msbluebozooka · 30/09/2013 21:30

What's it all about Alfie ?

Writerwannabe83 · 30/09/2013 21:54

The baby's middle name is going to be John (family tradition) and I know if I had a boy called Oliver John I would forever be thinking of Olivia Newton John Grin

Definitely not a fan of Alfie!!! Smile
(no offence to any Alfie's out there of course)

Why not wait until the baby is born ? If it is a boy, he will look like a Harry or a Liam or whatever name that just suits.
I like Nathan, fwiw. Nice name, that. Smile

mydoorisalwaysopen · 30/09/2013 22:06

Nearly called DS2 Paul, which is normal but unusual these days. Zoe was my girls name if I'd had a DD. You've already rejected my DS1's name - but it could be your DS's name, too.

We're rather traditional (but not biblical) so we liked Edmund, Charles, John, William, Robert, Alexander, possibly Edric or Julius if we were going out on a limb. DS ended up being one of the aforementioned Grin

Grumblelion · 07/10/2013 11:05

Benjamin/Ben
Luke
Samuel/Sam
Max
Charlie
Toby
Daniel

I do like Harrison though Harry would be very popular - depends if that bothers you?

KLou1105 · 07/10/2013 11:11

We are the opposite we cant agree on any girls names! here are some of our boys names on our shortlist
Henry
Louis
Russell
Harry
Oliver
Dylan
Oswald
Rupert
Julian
Nathaniel
Percy
Noah
Flynn

Gingerbreadpixie · 07/10/2013 13:04

We were in a similar position. Lots of girls names we liked but no boys names. We eventually had Thomas, Daniel, Oscar and Oliver on our shortlist but we wanted to see what he looked like when he was born.

We went with Henry! It wasn't on "the list" and I wasn't sure if I even liked the name before he was born. But he looked like a Henry. And now i absolutely love the name. :)
