Megan is a lovely Welsh name. I have a 75 year old cousin called Megan. I don't think she's a chav.

What LEM said

A name isn't chavvy

Ninetydegreeseastoflondon · 13/09/2013 09:51

I don't understand why anyone would think Megan is 'chavvy'.
It's a nice, normal name.

Jessicarthorse · 13/09/2013 09:52

Worrying about being thought 'chavvy' is really chavvy OP.

Get a grip.

MisselthwaiteManor · 13/09/2013 11:01

Megan is a lovely name, not that your cousin needs your approval.

TidyDancer · 13/09/2013 12:02

Why are you asking? Does your cousin want this opinion or do you think it's a chav name?

It's not for me, I know a horrible Megan so could never use it, but it's not an awful name. And not chavvy.

squoosh · 13/09/2013 12:34

I think of Megan as being a traditional Welsh name, sweetly old fashioned.

'Chavvy' definitely doesn't come to mind.

FetchezLaVache · 13/09/2013 12:45

LEM: so right she said it four times!

EnjoyEverySandwich · 13/09/2013 13:35

It's not chavvy, but I do find it a very ugly-sounding name and cannot understand why it's been popular for so long. It makes me think of a clunky metal robot, don't know why.

rachel234 · 13/09/2013 13:37

Agree that it is the people who 'judge' names that have a problem in my opinion.

Personally I wouldn't choose Megan, but only because I prefer more feminine sounding names. But if your cousin likes it, then that is her choice!!

PoppadomPreach · 13/09/2013 13:37

I imagine only really thick people would find it an unacceptable name and start a thread about it. What's your name, OP, just for future reference.....

SoftSheen · 13/09/2013 13:38

Megan is a lovely, traditional name- very good choice :)

bundaberg · 13/09/2013 13:41

Megan??? not chavvy in the slightest!
it's a lovely name

rachel234 · 13/09/2013 13:43

It really shouldn't matter what we think!! Or has your cousin asked you to canvas opinions on the internet for her?

tywysogesgymraeg · 13/09/2013 13:44

Some names are chavvy (Chardonay??) - but Megan isn't one of them.

Rhubarbgarden · 13/09/2013 14:02
Hmm
IWantToBeADragon · 13/09/2013 14:32

Er, NO. This is my ultimate ideal name for a little girl, and i cant use it :(

burberryqueen · 13/09/2013 14:36

no it is not 'chavvy' but i would hesitate before using it these days because of Meg in Family Guy

Bowlersarm · 13/09/2013 14:37

Megan is fine.

littlemisswise · 13/09/2013 14:38

I don't even think Katie Hopkins could find Megan chavvy!

BangOn · 13/09/2013 14:57

Beautiful name - makes me think of rolling Welsh hills & valleys.
