Afternoon All,

DH (English) and I(Indian) have decided we want to have indian names for our baby(to maintain some sense of heritage - surname is very english). We do not know if we are having a pink one or a blue one and don?t intend on finding out.

Does anyone know of any Indian/English (Indian names that are similar to English names or easily pronounceable) that are a bit different to the Jay?s and Arun?s etc.

If you are in a similar relationship what have you called your little ones?

Thanks in advance for inspiring me!!

I'm in a similar type of relationship and our daughter is called Lilah, also liked scyra (pronounced syra) and asha. If I'd had a boy he would have been called Rohan.

I'm English and my DP is half indian. I'm pregnant with our first child. So far the only name he really loves is Priya. I like Millie though :)

I am in a similar relationship, and we went with Indian first names and English middle names with DH's English surname.

Ideas for names:

Ishan / Ishaan
Shyam
Arjun

Mahi or maya for a girl
Anoushka
Ami/Ammi
Anisha
Rakhee
Reshma

Priya is lovely, and actually means beloved, also a little less popular than Millie (which I like too) how about Mila/Milan OP?

Jasmine, priya, tara or maya for a girl
Can't think of any boys names right now. We are thinking of callum (cal for short) for DS 2.

An Indian friend of mine picked Ryan, as she said it was common in both countries. I also like the name Ashwin, it sounds quite Welsh to me.

Mia is nice.

Aashni can be shortened to Ash which I love. It means lightening or smile. Are you going to have any middle names?
