Just found out we are having a BOY {eekkk} really thought it would be another girl.

DH and I can't agree at all on boys names. DH likes James, I like Toby. We need a compromise, can you help?

If your only complaint about James is the popularity then James it should be.

How many baby James' do you know? Have you ever actually heard James being shouted in the playground?

Michael has lots of nn. Was on my list for dd and if she'd been ds2 would've been Mikey but Michael for best.

Britchic · 05/09/2013 19:57

I second Hugo

girliefriend · 05/09/2013 20:03

James is a good, solid, will never date or embarrass anyone name so agree with above post of your only objection in its popular I would go for it (for what its worth I haven't come across any james ever and am sure there has never been one in any of dds classes - now in yr 3)

Unless your dh is called James himself i would go for that Grin

girl and mortified You raise excellent points, incredibly valid. Noted. Great friend has a James, he's only 10 wks or so. However they live overseas so unlikely we'll see them that much over the next few years.
Jamie day to day?

Hmm responses from DH: Nicholas, Daniel, Lawrence.

Flat no: Andrew, Ralph, Luca, Rafe, Max, Joseph (in fact anything Josh or Jake is no) Robin, Rufus, Cassius

Already used by family or very close friends: Monty, Otto, Louis, James, Caspar, Hugo inc Hugh.

DD is a 'H' so keen not to repeat. Saying that I do like Hamish I am Scottish

Thank you for the suggestions.

George is a no too. As he doesn't like it.

soontobeslendergirl · 05/09/2013 20:58

Hamish is the gaelic equivalent of James is it not?

Try a more Scottish theme then:
Duncan
Douglas
Magnus
Lorne
Ross
Angus
Findlay
Fergus
Torin
Innes
Stewart
Scott
Callum

MortifiedAdams · 05/09/2013 20:59

MortifiedAdams · 05/09/2013 20:59

Although in our house hed get Jim Jameramalam. We always seem to lengthen names Blush

daughterofafarmer · 05/09/2013 21:05

Yes it is so but we live in SW England, so not really popular. And it's about the only Scottish name DH can pronounce Grin Lachlan is hysterical, he just can't get it.

Duncan is my ex. Douglas and Fergus are no's. Love Magnus but's never going to happen. can't use Findlay as it doesn't go with our surname. Sister has a Angus. Rest are no's!
