Aria?

We are looking for a girl's name that would work well in English and Japanese.

I really like Aria but I'm not sure if my husband will go for it so wanted to get some other opinions before I ask him.

As well as the opera meaning, it can also mean lioness and air.

In Japanese I think I would use the character for 'have' (aru) and 'love' (ai), so the meaning would be 'loved'.

I also love the character Arya Stark in Game of Thrones.

I guess the pronunciation would depend on the person ie Ah-ree-a, A-ree-a.

Zen we were also considering this name, though it wouldn't work very well with our extremely English surname.

I liked the lioness meaning, and think it translates beautifully in terms of the characters you've chosen.

Dh has had some very strange ideas for her name so it's hard to tell if he will like it or not. One rhymed with DD1's name (eg May and Kay) and the other was an anagram of DD1's name. This might be a bit too different for him. But I think different might be good.

As well as the Hebrew 'lioness' with its positive connotations, the Greek meaning is 'pure' and Italian is 'melodious'.

I must admit, I'd never have come up with it as a name, but now I think it would be a lovely choice
