Jude for a boy?

So... it was going to be George, but i started doubting this after the Royal baby name was announced. We agreed on Dylan as a compromise which we both liked (neither of us loved it, but it was one of the only names one of us didn't have an objection too, and we both thought it was cute). Told my parents yesterday and they quickly changed the subject, then later mentioned the majic roundabout. It was clear that they didn't like the name. This doesn't rule it out as they would get used to it, but they are my parents and so them not liking it has put me off a bit.

Another name we had both said we liked was Jude. However I'm noy 100% on this. I know it sounds silly but it just makes me think of Judy as sounds a little femanin? Obviously if he looks like a little Jude Law then he will be able to carry anything off, but if he doesn't, do you think this is a bit femanin and likely to promt teasing at school ect? Middle name will be Stanley. What do you think, or any other suggestions?

I don't want kids but if I did this would be my son's name. I LOVE it!

Thanks GetStuffezd!

Jude for a boy is great - lovely name.

PistachioTruffle · 25/08/2013 18:18

I love Jude for a boy, DH wasn't so keen otherwise I would have had no hesitations choosing it. I have a friend with a little Jude, I think it's cool without being 'out there' or extremely popular. Go for it!

F

PistachioTruffle · 25/08/2013 18:19

Whoops, not sure what the random F was for, sorry!

BrianTheMole · 25/08/2013 18:19

I love it too.

rootypig · 25/08/2013 18:27

Love Jude.

Other suggestions: Reuben,

LoopyLupo · 25/08/2013 18:49

Love it. Stupid surname means I could never use it.

SadPander · 25/08/2013 20:18

Thanks all. Coconutty, do you know many Judes's? Don't know any myself but don't know many children tbh. Don't want to sound as though I'm trying to be one thing or another - do you think its try hard as in trying to be different?

I think it's great.

UriGeller · 25/08/2013 20:20

I really like it.

usualsuspect · 25/08/2013 20:20

I think it's a cool name.

jen79142 · 25/08/2013 20:24

I have a Dylan and if my youngest had been a boy she would have been Jude, so I think you have fab taste in names :)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/08/2013 20:25

I don't like it, too feminine, but it is better than Dylan. What about Stanley as the first name?

vaticancameo · 25/08/2013 20:28

It makes me think of Jude the Obscure, and St Jude ( patron saint of lost causes). Both of those would put me off it.

usualsuspect · 25/08/2013 20:29

Stanley is awful.

FortyFacedFuckers · 25/08/2013 20:34

I love Jude! It was on my list for DS

ToddCranes · 25/08/2013 20:34

Love it. Would consider using it myself.

filee777 · 25/08/2013 20:34

Love it.

SoftSheen · 25/08/2013 20:36

I'd stick with George- a classic name that won't date.

TheBuskersDog · 25/08/2013 20:36

Don't know how old your parents are but it could just be a generational thing as far as Dylan is concerned. They might not have come across any other Dylans apart from The Magic Roundabout, this is not the case for younger people and other children definately won't think of it.

By the way I like Jude, but don't let your parents put you off Dylan if that is your favourite.

happyinherts · 25/08/2013 20:37

Yes I know a 9 year old Jude, strong willed character but appealing young man

I loved it as a name long before I met this young lad and I haven't changed my opinion.

Definitely Jude, cool name

buttercrumble · 25/08/2013 20:40

Love Jude
