I came across this name recently and have fallen hard for it. What do you all think?

I'm loving the fact that it is very uncommon and as a vintage feel to it. Also I can use the nn Flori or Flo.

Regarding the pronunciation, I pronounce it as Flur.....is this correct?

Thanks in advance!

I know a lovely teenage Fleur and it is a lovely name. It's pronounced fler.
Never really got nicknamed as short enough to use full name all the time. An original, pretty choice!

I know several however it is so short and one syllable that none have ever shortened it seems a shame to do so as it is one of those nice short names that most people choose as cant really be shortened I don't think either of your shortening are really a shortening of Fleur just a different name altogether.

sounds like Cilla Black mispronouncing something tbh

I know a little fleur. I just don't like the way it's pronounced, it sounds like bleeeurgh. I think, in a French accent, it's lovely.

Don't like it either and much prefer some of the other suggested names. Ultimately though if you love it then go for it!

I've known a couple - it's pronounced to rhyme with blur or fur. It always sounds a bit like bleugh (like a sickly noise) to me, so I'm not keen. If you like flo and flori tripe of nicknames then why not Florence?

Rhubarbgarden · 16/08/2013 20:02

I love it. It was on my short list.

itsBeer0cl0ck · 16/08/2013 20:04

no. It's awful. Like bleurgh. or floor.

flora is lovely though.
