Dh has Harvey on his boys name list. I am not sure and being a bit snobby maybe as his other names are Edward, Harry, Felix etc! Not sure if Harvey is along the same lines....what do people think of the name?

I don't love Harvey, but, that being said, I wouldn't necessarily assume anyone called Harvey or with a kid called Harvey would be a chav (which I assume is what you mean by feeling a bit snobby that you don't like the name). It does remind me a bit of that crazy bloke from East 17, I suppose, while Felix screams Made in Chelsea (to me!). My DH loved a particular name for DS that I really wasn't keen on but thankfully he went off it of his own accord lol

Harvey used to be quite posh I think - one of the characters from Love in a Cold Climate is called it, so Nancy Mitford obviously thought it was 'U' - but has changed more recently.

LifeIsNow · 15/08/2013 09:32

Not sure I meant it was a chav name per se, just that it was quite different from the other names on dh's list.....i don't dislike the name just not v sure about it....

Doesn't Jordan have one?

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/08/2013 10:47

Yes, Jordan has a Harvey. And as I said above it does make me think of Brian Harvey too. It also reminds me of Harvey Milk though, which is a bit more dignified!

hawkmcqueen · 15/08/2013 17:48

I once thought Harvey was quite a modern name but it's actually an oldie, up there with Henry, George etc and popular in Victorian times I think. So it's actually a classic. I have considered this as my friend has a Harvey and so I did a bit of googling. I now think of it as being a fab alternative to all the top 10s. It's a shame she got there first (but then again I wouldn't have thought of it!). So yeah, in my instance Harvey is the farthest away from Chav you can get.

KateCroydon · 15/08/2013 19:39

Cute. 6 foot rabbit, but I like it.

BananaHammocks · 16/08/2013 07:39

I really Like it but Jordan using it totally ruined it in IMO!

BlueStarsAtNight · 16/08/2013 07:42

I'd class Harvey as the same type of name as Felix, but not Edward or Harry. Because Edward and Harry are nice classic solid boys names that I really like, and Felix and Harvey are pets names and feel a bit try-hard on a child. Not really sure why!

Rhubarbgarden · 16/08/2013 08:03

I like it.

Mumblyboo · 16/08/2013 17:27

I instantly think Jordan but don't think it's chav in itself. On the right child I am sure it is quite classy

Corkle · 16/08/2013 19:27

Love it Smile
My first choice for a boy too.

nelly83 · 16/08/2013 19:43

I am a teacher and have 3 in my class next year (year1) do 5 year olds. I had two last year too. Depends whether u want a popular name or not.

nelly83 · 16/08/2013 19:44

*so 5 year olds!

LinusVanPelt · 16/08/2013 19:54

"on the right child I'm sure it is quite classy"

What does the wrong child look like? Hmm

ElBombero · 16/08/2013 21:27

Yeah Jordan has one.
Yuk yuk yuk, really don't like it

RattyPatty · 16/08/2013 21:36

who cares who else has it.

If you like it use it, if you dont....dont.

wait till he's here and then decide.

BubbleBoy · 17/08/2013 07:47

I REALLY DISLIKE IT. A couple of teenage mums round here have Harveys (not that that's a bad thing) but it tends to be a name used by young people trying to be 'trendy' a bit like 'Levi' and 'Tyler'. Just not my kind of names. Felix is just way way way to cat-ty!
