Love. Is Theo a shortening already of Theodore? Not that I think you should you Theodore, it's a bit yuck. Strangely I love Theodora though...

Kezztrel · 14/08/2013 10:45

*use, not you

SixPackWellies · 14/08/2013 10:47

Love.

Also love Theodora. ;)

HorryIsUpduffed · 14/08/2013 10:47

Like pp I see Theo and Ted as two nns of the same full name, rather than one a nn of the other.

Love Lottie from Charlotte. Was having a conversation with someone just yesterday about what a wonderful name it is. It would have been DC3's middle name but wouldn't suit a boy Wink

I find Ted quite posh but Theo very class neutral. Does that matter?

SpinningSpider · 14/08/2013 10:49

No it will just be Theo as dh not keen on Theodore

I agree that Ted and Theo are both short for Theodore but I don't really see Ted being a diminutive of Theo.

Theo is lovely itself though.

SoupDragon · 14/08/2013 10:52

Nothing wrong with Theo but I think it's odd to then use Ted which is another nickname/shortening for Theodore.

I've always liked the name Charlotte.

NarkyNamechanger · 14/08/2013 10:55

Why give them one name if you plan t call them something else. Both nice names but I don't get the name in brackets bit. Just my own opinion of course.

LoopThePoop · 14/08/2013 10:59

Well if its just going to be Theo (which is a NN) why not just use Ted (which is a NN)?
I wouldn't use one for the other.
Ted I like, Theo not so much.

SpinningSpider · 14/08/2013 11:00

Dh loves Theo.

I love Ted.

I don't like Edward much and he doesn't like Theodore.

We have been through the top 100 names and Theo is the only boys name we can both agree on.

Kezztrel · 14/08/2013 11:01

You could use Edward or Edmund and have Ted as a nn, or just use Theo full stop? I like Edward and Charlotte together.

Kezztrel · 14/08/2013 11:02

Sorry X-post. There's no real reason you can't call him Ted if his name's officially Theo :)

SoupDragon · 14/08/2013 12:12

Does your DH love Ted though?

As an aside, I only realised many many years later than I should that a relative was called Ted because they were his initials, not his name!

SpinningSpider · 14/08/2013 12:14

Yes he does Soup.

OP posts:
Ebb · 14/08/2013 12:15

Love both Charlotte and Theo.

SpinningSpider · 14/08/2013 16:26

We could use Teddy but it doesn't seem very fair on a grown man

OP posts:
Still18atheart · 14/08/2013 16:40

Love both Charlotte and Theo and all nn associated with them

SpinningSpider · 14/08/2013 16:49

I have the 20wk scan in a couple of weeks and we're hoping to find out the gender.

I really hope its a girl as the boy name issue is driving me crazy!

Poppins27 · 14/08/2013 17:02

Love, love, love them all!!!

I have a Lottie, just Lottie, but the amount of people i get assuming she's Charlotte is unreal. Long names, short names, nick names, whatever...if you love it that's all that matters!!

Theo and Ted are super lovely too Grin

LynetteScavo · 14/08/2013 17:08

Yes, I love them.

But it's whether you like them that's important. Smile

SpeedwellBlue · 14/08/2013 23:13

I like them. Fine to use Ted as a nn for Theo as a nn doesn't need to be the 'correct' nn for something. A nn can be anything you choose.

MrsMongoose · 15/08/2013 02:00

Theo with the nickname Ted is weird. They are both nicknames for Theodore. If you want to call him Ted, use that on the bc. Not another nickname!

JumpingJackSprat · 15/08/2013 08:11

You can nickname your child whatever you like... imagine (shock horror) if you chose a nn that had nothing to do with the dcs name, which seems to be unfathomable on mn. i like ted/theo and i like lottie. Charlotte is dull but its not my baby!!

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 15/08/2013 08:15

Those are the loveliest names I have seen on a post.
