Paris from Gilmore Girls

MummyBeerest · 18/08/2013 18:34

Vienna is lovely, I agree. Or Venice or Verona. I met a baby Verona and she was adorable.

It says love to me. But that's because it's the name of my friend's longed-for child. The adoption was formalised last week. He has had some nobby comments about her name. From nobs. She is beautiful and amazing and that includes her name.

thatwasadaftidea · 18/08/2013 22:55

lovely, theoldestcat.

I always think of the golden apple and how Aphrodite tempted Paris and Helen.

I quite love it as a boys name, as a girls I just think of Hilton shudder

thatwasadaftidea · 18/08/2013 23:00

so you meant it as a positive?

OP posts:
thornrose · 18/08/2013 23:01

Alternatives:

Persis - I found this on a woman way back in my family tree. There's an Indian actress named Persis Khambatta, most well known for having been in the first Star Trek movie in 1979. It's a Biblical Greek name.

Pallas - Another Greek name. This was the name of a minor Greek goddess. Athena accidentally killed her and then took her name to honour her. I associate this with the Gustav Klimt painting, Pallas Athena.

It's a boy's name! Paris and Helen!

Bonsoir · 21/08/2013 09:28

Chav. Bling. Nothing good.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2013 10:36

Sunny, who are you - Katie Hopkins wannabe, perchance? A lot of hard working, thoroughly decent people live in social housing; good neighbours and well-kept homes are not just the preserve of home-owners.

ParisDavies8 · 05/12/2018 21:48

@parisdavies8 have you just searched threads on your own name? The ones you have commented on are 15 years old!

MummyBearRose · 05/12/2018 22:05

Not my favourite name but I don't think anything bad of it Smile
