Ever Daydreamed about Being your Famous Namesake?

My real name is Rachel. At one time I had a crush on my image of Jacob in the Bible. I envisage him having a childlike face with big innocent dark eyes, and floppy boyish brown hair. (I knew there were many ghastly drawings of him in picture-Bibles, but I just had to accept that the artists were entitled to their images of him, just as I was entitled to mine.)

A friend once warned me that people might think I was odd, "even dangerous", for being in love with the character. Why??? I mean, surely if my name was Juliet, these vile people wouldn't consider me "dangerous" if I'd been in love with the character Romeo?

I've always had an interest in John of Gaunt and that period of history because I was named after a book by Anya Seton. And I guess I do feel slightly defensive of him and think of him in a positive light because of that. So I know what you mean, although I think taking it to an extreme might seem a bit odd. And if people don't have a specific namesake they probably wouldn't get it at all.
