We are expecting a dd and love the name Ottilie but want nn would you go with, if any?

Dh and I are disagreeing.

Is Ottie too cutesy?
Tilly too common?
Ots doesn't quite work.
Otto? Too boyish?

Opinions please.

Perhaps you don't need one. It's not the kind of name that is automatically shortened I don't think.

IAteTheCake · 12/08/2013 08:39

Ottie?

outtolunchagain · 12/08/2013 08:41

Can't you just call her Ottilie , why do you need a nickname ?

MyNameIsSuz · 12/08/2013 08:43

Ollie?

MyNameIsSuz · 12/08/2013 08:43

I love Ottilie by the way, it was on our list!

Twister28 · 12/08/2013 08:50

Maybe a nn isn't needed. I suppose I have a confidence issue with the name. What is she/others don't like it.

I like Ollie for a girl. Hmmmmm

Thanks.

If you're not confident in the name then I would suggest that you shouldn't use it.

The thing is I love the name but I know some don't. I suppose all names are like that.

Such a big responsibility naming someone!

I don't really get the nickname thing, don't they just evolve naturally?

I know an Ottilie who goes by 'Orly'. In general I think nicknames just come about naturally, though. Really like Ottilie, by the way!

Thanks everyone!
